Soundbar HDMI in / out
ooops
24-09-2014
Evening folks,

I'm looking for a bit of advice RE HDMI in / out from a Sky+HD box - LG NB 4540 SB - Optoma HD26 projector.

I recently bought the projector and ran a PS3 and Sky+ HD box in using two 10m HDMI 1.4 cables from eBay.

Sound was dealt with temporarily using a 3.5mm jack until I could get round to buying the gorgeous LG NB4540 soundbar which has HDMI in and out.

Anyway, I set it all up and it doesn't work.
Connecting the Sky box to the SB HDMI in gives me sound but as soon as I plug a cable into HDMI out, the sound drops and no video output to the projector occurs.

Both cables work connecting directly from Sky to projector so I don't think it's a cable issue.
Can you guys offer any help?

Thanks in advance.

I don't understand what you are doing ?

You want Sky and PS 3 to work on the projector ?

I don't understand what the HDMI out is for in the projector ? Does it then go to a tv ?

I think they mean HDMI Out from the soundbar. In effect using the soundbar as a source switch.

Connect a laptop to the projector does the projector display the video (and sound if applicable).
Connect the soundbar to a TV does the video display on the TV?

Thanks for your response guys.

Simple solution - connect to the projector when it was turned on!

Really? So an HDMI handshaking issue. Though why under any circumstances the soundbar would decide to mute the audio seems curious.

Indeed.

I'm not impressed with the quality of the soundbar tbh.

Nothing to do with the sound but the build quality.
It had a small scratch and deny on anyway and when I removed the protective tape, it pulled paint off too!

RS have been brilliant though and ordered one in for exchange as they had no stock.
