I've heard that the twist on new years day will tell us WHO was not involved or is a suspect in the lucy beale murder. My question is how are they going to play that out on screen and let us know who was not involved. What way can they possibly do this?

It'll just reveal the few people who had means and motive ruling everyone else out.

Probably bring it down to a possible 4-6 people to then take us to the anniversary episodes.

I believe we will find out the gender of the killer.

I'm hoping that if that the writers have been really clever, we will return to that fateful evening eventually, and in the meantime, be drip-fed titbits of information and possibly flashbacks until all the pieces of the jigsaw fit together and the culprit is revealed during the 30th anniversary episode.

I would like to see the hours leading up to Lucy's disappearance and eventual murder. Surely these have already been or are yet to be filmed. To do the story complete justice I think we need to see it all play out like we do in other murder-mystery dramas, discover the vital missing pieces of evidence and learn about events during the hours prior to the actual event.

DTC said himself "we wanted to do a Broadchurch" so I expect it is going to be huge and a satisfying pay-off for the viewers hopefully. News that filtered out concerning the perpetrator initially concerned me, however, it obviously had to happen in order to reward the viewers for their patience. I don't think DTC will let us down concerning the anniversary episodes, I have every faith in him and the continuing regeneration of EastEnders. It's not brilliant, far from it, but at least it's watchable, something I found increasingly difficult to do during the disastrous BK and LN reigns.

I'm curious to how they will do it.
I think we will be left with a group of suspects, some combination of;
Ian
Peter
Jane
Denise
Cindy
Lola
Lauren
Abi
Lee
