So despite having a totally cushy powerplay even with a luxury budget for the shopping Lawson messes it up and then he stirs against Katie. Of course given how this show is being portrayed the preview before all this was Lawson saying 'Katie is upset', even though it was really about him stirring it because they were all upset to an extent. We have never really been shown how Lawson has been during this head HM role either.
There was a strange bit with the dogs where it looked like they were trying to give David some HLs time, but it looked like scraping the barrel. The producers gave him the moment with Tim but he still hasn't come to life I guess. |

How on earth did he screw up the budget by that much though, I mean 500 is a lot to go over. I also lol-ed at Katie and Lisa passing judgement on who is "real" in the house, of course the say of the Queen Bees must be taken as fact. They clearly have zero footage to show this year given some of the scenes we've been shown. |

It's standard conversation on BB both inside and outside the house to talk about who people think are being the most themselves. Hardly anything nasty either.

Everyone is being some element of themselves even if its the "reality show" version. We all have various personas, one when we are at work, one with our parents, one with our friends etc. You don't act the same in every situation. Its the most pointless conversation ever because everyone is being the "TV" version of themselves.

Does anyone else think that Katie looks like BB9 UK's Sara?

Remember the timeline in BBAus is all messed up. The trailer for Sunday's show hints that Lawson had a confrontation in the house and therefore it may be possible that this happened before the shopping list and Lawson deliberatey messed up the shopping list as revenge.

The timeline will be all over the place that's part of the manipulation of it, the UK one has been the same in the past, and people have pointed that out in the US one for ages. This is why you need a live feed (particulary in the public vote one) so people get the fuller view.
And I agree that people can't act 24/7 or not be themselves for some of the time. But that was exactly the point that was being made, that Lawson came in as a cuddly magician but the fuller view of Lawson has gradually come out. Some will try and hold back or say one thing in one place but another to someone else. That's part of the game of course, but it also has a right to be called out as well. And to see the full game from both sides is way more interesting than a blinkered view. |

Lawson's hardly some devious menace though. But his messing up of the shopping list seemed deliberate. Perhaps Gemma's parting words about playing the game have sunk in and he's trying to mix it up.
Who is Ryan?? Most pointless HM in there at this point. |

Who is Ryan?? Most pointless HM in there at this point. But considering we are hardly shown much of what people complain about Lawson it's hard to say exactly when people started complaining. I wouldn't say any of them are a 'devious menace', though that kind of exaggeration will no doubt be used this year as every year on the show by some people who get hyped up by the tweets, narrator, host and other stuff. I remember some of the abuse Tahan got last year at first, I didn't even visit some sites as it was a bit sickening to see. I suppose I just hope that the innane shallow negativity of the British version keeps out of this. Unrealistic these days I guess. |

To me it seems that's what the casting was more aimed at this year...more negativity, more drama maybe? It does have a very UK feel to it this time around. But like you, I just hope there isn't a massive amount of shallow comments and nastiness that is inflicted on our HM's. From what I quickly glanced on the Aussie FB page today it does seem there are far more genuinely decent people watching and posting still. The negative comments are few and far between thankfully. I wasn't a fan of Tahan last year, but honestly she wasn't bad, and neither are any of the HM's this year. I always find the Aussie HM's more likeable.
