I believe what we witnessed tonight is called "jumping the shark"

And that's exactly what a lot of people are doing.

Not sure if serious?

I could post plenty of negative articles and comments during the time Collinson was producer. He almost destroyed the show single handedly, with his gay agenda and sensationalist storylines.

I agree - people forget he was slated on here and I don't think SB is any worse (or better, either).

I'm just bored with every SL. Why should Neil just walk off into the sunset and meekly accept his wife of 20+ years saying 'I'm off now, got a new fella, thanks for keeping a roof over my head, bye!'. Of course he'd be upset for more than half an hour! As for them all bowing down to old parrot face Liz McDonald shrieking about the ladders and leaving Tim stranded.....! Pathetic!

Gail and Michael are cringe-making. I like Neil and I hope we haven't seen the last of him.

it all depends on what you want from your continuing drama. you have hollyoaks with sisters kissing brothers, you have emmerdale which has turned into the 'village of the damned' i half expect jack nicholson to turn up in the dales and you have eastenders with their big dramatic storylines with fires, guns, weddings and family secrets that are ott. at least with corrie we get a bit of the mundane. i love the mundane, it makes a refreshing change. i loved sally going on about the aerial on the roof and the fact she wanted to watch telly. things that we ordinary joe's can relate to and get p****d off about. imagine that happening before strictly tonight.

i don't think itv are for one second embarrassed by corrie and you know if push came to shove which soap they would save. no contest.

my main concern for corrie is that itv will read some of the comments on sites like ds and panic and have too many sensational over the top storylines. i personally don't want to see any more stunts, fires, serial killers, murders on the cobbles for a very long time, if ever. i have been a critic of the hat, perhaps i have been too harsh, following the rabble on here too much. if stuart can stick to corrie's strength, the ordinaryness of every day life, have character lead story's rather than issue based storylines i will be happy. i am not looking forward to the faye pregnancy storyline and i hear a big stunt is planned for january. itv need to stop trying to compete with the likes of eastenders. eastenders is good at what it does and corrie needs to stick to what it does best. corrie is far from perfect, but neither is it as bad as many are making out. ”

This is perfectly true but because we can identify with the mundane we can see the gaping holes that spoil the moment.

Like the way they don't bother about what time of day it is, whether the children are at school, disappearing children for months on end, etc. I could go on and on.

Concentrate on the ordinary everyday stuff by all means but why, why can't they get the minor details right. That's what frustrates us.

It's so easy to do but due to sloppy production it doesn't happen.

I decided for some reason to stick around downstairs with my mum after Eastenders ended and watched most of both episodes and I have to say it was definitely different. In comparison to what Eastenders and most definitely by the sounds of what Emmerdale have just done it seems so tame and poor and like somebody else said I coudlnt work out if it was meant to be serious or funny.
I have to say Tim did make me laugh several times but I guess it was unrealistic that they'd leave him up there the whole time. I also noticed Sean making a comment that was meant to be funny that just fell outright flat on its face and it helps explain to me the disdain everyome has on here for him.

I have watched Coronation street from the begining. Ok, there have been times when I seriously think, this is getting silly the way the story lines go but as the OP says, it's reached a new low.
We don't see enough of the older regulars, can't remember the last time I seen Rita, Norris and Emily for example. Do people usually disappear for such long periods normally? If they are not in volved in the SL, you would possibly see them passing by in the street at least. It's as though they vanish from the face of the earth.
The pathetic SL of Kirk and Beth's outrageously planned, expensive wedding. For goodness sake, they both work probably for minimum wage and they want this extravagant wedding. Are we truly expected to believe they could work a few hours overtime to pay for the wedding when only a few months back, they couldn't even afford to pay rent? That's why they moved in with Chesney.
Then we have Eva taking Todd in while she has her boyfriend, his brother living with her. The very person who moved from his mothers home to get away from him. How pathetic.
As for the business of Neil climbing on the roof of the Rovers! You have his ex climbing up the ladder to talk him down. There he is frozen with fear when he slips but wait, he then manages to haul Andrea up while the loud mouthed Liz is shouting in the background.
As for Gail and Michael, over acting and cringe worthy at its very best.
I would love the actors of the street to unite and tell those who write this utter garbage, the won't play the scenes, they are demeaning to act them out.
I would rather lose Coronation street forever than carry on with this hideous, childish, pathetic story lines. It's becoming embarrassing to watch.

Worst continuity error ever too in the two episodes!
Neil and Tim on their respective rooftops, the usual
crowd gathering to gawp at both, and DRY roofs.
Cut to a cosy chat in the garage between Tiny Kev
and Hardman Tirrone, and it is clearly raining heavily
outside the garage, you can see puddles and the rain
hitting them; then back to the rooftops and all is still
dry!!!! Someone wants a good larruping for that one!

Editing was really bad tonight, anyone notice that it was raining when Ty and Kev were in the garage?

I thought it was passable. Although I am fine with people's opinions, it does amuse me with every episode it is always called "the lowest point" or "the worst they ever seen". What, worse than the previous episode? Or the one shown several months back everyone deemed the worst ever in history? I'd hardly call it the lowest point, but people shall nitpick and forget.

Last nights first episode was so awful I didn't watch the second. Absolute drivel. What is the point in that Neil character? I wouldn't mind so much if I cared about Andrea, but I don't. Also some of the dialogue was appalling, "I'm not a chimney pot" WTF was that all about?Tyrone waffling on to Kevin about how they used to pretend to be superheroes? Who writes this rubbish?

I enjoyed watching last night, can't see why so many are complaining.. I thought it was funny seeing sally's bloke demaning his ladder back while the neil saga was going on!

Liz scowling and muttering -- "Don't you dare touch that ladder!", what's it to her? Stupid bint.

If this is Corrie's idea of comedy, god help us. Amateur Carry On at best.

I didn't even bother with last night's episodes. I looked and seen it was all about Andrea and Neil.....boring. They are dull, boring characters and I couldn't care less about her and Lloyd.

I agree with so much of your post, and yes, the bit where Eva invites Todd to stay in the flat, Ye Gods. Knowing what how Jason feels towards him it doesn't enter her bubble head to consider the further inflaming of the already boiling situation. Dumb Because she's blonde or something. YAWN. Funny because I remember her as saying some great one liners and barbed remarks not too long ago.
Maybe a piece of Tyrone's ceiling hit her on the head or something.

I also find it becoming totally embarrassing to watch.
At first I was starting to get embarrassed to be watching it in front of others being aware of what being seen to be being indulging in the crappy stories said about me.

Now I'm embarrassed for myself and starting to think I must have some sort of sad existence and low boredom threshold or mental illness to go on being a Corrie viewer.
And that is so much worse.

Just try watching an episode of Twin Peaks being reshown on the Skyfy channel and after it try watching an episode of Corrie. You'll see what I mean

it kind of does get worse every episode though, even tho you wouldn't think it possible.

Have to admit that probably for the first time ever, I didn't stick around for the second episode of a double-bill after watching the first. Judging by the comments in these threads, I seemed to have made the right decision.

Really was awful. I was actually sort of enjoying the Andrea storyline, too... Dreadful.

And Craig walking around with an entire loaf of bread munching it? I mean... wtf?

Corrie and Emmerdale are my favourite soaps at the moment.

For me Eastenders is the worst, but hey we are different.

Corrie is gentle really and not a hard watch, I find a 30 minute ep of Eastenders seems hours.

I don't see last nights shows were that bad, thevshow has a big October coming up, .

If any producer needs to go it is tbat bloke from Eastenders, he has ruined the show in my eyes.

As for the cast that have been on the show for years, it is called loyalty,
