Judgemental and controlling. I think he's just a complete prat, the way he spoke to The Doctor before even having a chance to get to know him was awful to watch. I think 12 would have been perfectly justified in punching him in the bloody face.

It's a shame because originally I was really looking forward to seeing more of him.

The main problem is that he sseems very unintelligent for a teacher, even Mickey was quicker than him. He is only trying to protect Clara though which is what most boyfriends would do seeing how travelling with the doctor could put her in a lot of danger.

Don't mind him overall,but I thought that Yes Sir No Sir! scene just came across as stupid.

Have they showed Danny Pink teaching in the classroom? It's all very well saying he is a teacher but good to see him doing so.

I think considering he knows his girlfriend is lying to him virtually every time she opens her mouth I can understand him wanting to know more about what she's up to and with whom. He's an intelligent bloke and the rubbish Clara comes out with, like 'it's a surprise play' is cringeworthy.


Controlling? He knows she's lying to him and would like to know what's going on. Is that so difficult to understand? I didn't particularly like the way he spoke to the Doctor but the Doctor did start it!

if he thinks his girlfriend is lyng to him, he's free to walk away. stalkng her using the Doctor's magic watch and demanding that she explain every second spent with friends she had way before she met him is what makes him a creep.

If it were, it wd be quite a coincidence that a few of us here have confused him for the exact same other actor.

"Clara" gets paid to lie - just like Dinky Pan gets paid to look all serious while he threatens to dump his impressionable girlfiend if she doesn't do as he says.

I'm seeing splinters coming out of his arris. Terrible character so far.

One thing you have to say is that his storyline is engaging people and getting a reaction. It surely has to be the best character-based subplot since Amy and Rory in Season 5. I think it's going to turn out very memorably.

So in that regard, yes I like Danny Pink.

In terms of the character... Hell no, I don't trust that guy. As I said in another thread, be wary of a relationship with anyone who gives ultimatums such as 'do this or I'll leave you'', as he did with Clara at the end of The Caretaker.

I think that whatever happens they'll give him a redemption. They've characterized him enough to make that dramatically imperative. But I'll be surprised if he's a 'companion' at the end of this season. I think his storyline will pay off this season and conclude.

Not likeable

Watched it again this evening on BBC3.
And it confirmed that he is dull as dishwater with no personality. When he asked Clara what she was I nearly told him - well, she has been a Dalek that flirted with Rory, a Victorian governess, an ordinary human living with her family, a schoolteacher etc.

Only too much of companions love interest in Moffat's section of new who actually. With rose, mickey was basically relegated to friend status from the time she met the doctor and Martha and Donna were completely single during their time as the comapanion. It's only since Moffat started that the companion also has to have a companion so to speak, and learning about those relationships can use up valuable time that might otherwise be actually used having an adventure. Last nights episode was a prime example of this.

The only thing keeping me watching at the moment is Peter.

So you wouldn't ask a girlfriend or any other friend why they continually lied to you but just walk away. Even if you cared for them and thought they possibly may be in trouble or under the influence of another man for whatever reason? She didn't just know the Doctor before she met Danny, she was still 'seeing' him at the same time. I can understand why he wanted to find out exactly where he stood with her, I think most men would.

He only used the Doctor's watch once and that was because Clara wanted him to see her and the doctor together so he could see what she was like the rest of the time when she wasn't with him. When he was wandering round the school he was in full sight and it was because he knew something was going on and was concerned about it. He wasn't stalking Clara, he was trying to find out what the Doctor was up to.

He's a nothing character imo. His acting is wooden and he's ruining the Clara character. She used to be great but now she's acting like a moron.

There still appears to be no chemistry between the two of them yet either. Her declaring her love for him was just hilariously silly.

He used it a second time when he was following the Blitzer who was chasing Clara.

We see him appear just before he does his jump over the Blitzer.

I said 'Waiting to See' but at the moment he's not doing much for me. giving him the benefit of the doubt for now though.

He's just really dull and bland. Partly down to the writing and partly down to what often seems like bad acting.

He certainly makes some very unusual decisions with how he says his lines. Often slightly off-beat with unusual emphases. He doesn't pitch his performances in the blatant way. I definitely don't think it's the work of an actor who doesn't know what he's doing, although I am still undecided whether I like it.

But he's certainly not wooden. A 'wooden' actor is one who speaks their lines and acts their part without characterization, and in no way is that applicable here.

Of course, the ambiguity with which he presents himself in some ways adds to the mystery and slight uncertainty that the character engenders. At this point we don't yet have enough perspective to say how deliberate that is.

Let's not have knee-jerk reactions. I'm very interested to see his storyline play out.
