Yeah, good luck with THAT when you ask Clara how much she just spent on that gorgeous handbag, new shoes and that bag of make up she just moved from the Selfridges bag into the Superdrug carrier bag before she came home.

I think he's likeable, but he has a troubled past.

He likes Clara but is obviously a little self conscious and lacking in confidence around women to which he's attracted. Understandable if he was Rupert and grew up in a children's home. Low self esteem. (What happened to his parents?)

Something bad has happened (he probably couldn't save a (female?) civilian? (relative?)) and thinks he's responsible for death(s) (but probably isn't). [He tries to hide his reaction to the "ladykiller" remark, but it obviously made him uncomfortable.]

He's likely to be redeemed by Clara and the Doctor (or find out he wasn't actually responsible). His commanding officer(s) are probably actually responsible for putting him in a situation where he couldn't save everybody hence his dislike of the "officer class". Clara will ride off into the sunset with him and the Doctor will learn not to dislike all soldiers. He won't be a new long term companion.

I'm really liking him, a tad 'hidden' in terms of character, for obvious mysterious reasons, but seems sweet enough and is being played well by Samuel Anderson for what little there actually is at the moment, so kudos there. It shall be interesting to see how it all pans out. I certainly would not object to him becoming a companion.

Thats if he isn't The Rani.

(The Doctor might want to toss that inviso-watch into the incinerator though, as that
little visit to the Doctor's home by the new boyfriend was EXTREMELY creepy, especially when he didn't want to leave after breaking in).

On second thought, this is even better than Captain Jack, who had too much class to break into the Tardis to get it on with one of the companions!

Can't stand him. I was looking forward to him but so far all I've took in so far is "Do as I say or I'll leave you" and "You should be scared and you need me to protect you".....

It was Clara who thought of Danny wearing the Doctor's watch so He could see for himself how they acted together in the TARDIS. It was a stupid deceitful idea but she thought of it anyway and Danny was stupid enough to go through with it. I'm beginning to think they deserve each other.
