Thom & Iveta - Salsa (Saturday show)
Tim & Natalie - Waltz (Tim's twitter)

I think we will see another Waltz, Tango and definitely a Foxtrot being given to Scott, Mark and Pixie respectively.”

Excellent, I love the Tango and with Caroline and Simon doing it potentially we could be seeing two very good ones.

Scott confirmed on BBC Breakfast this morning that he is doing a tango

So only Jake, Mark and Pixie to be confirmed now. We're pretty sure Jake has the Salsa, and as for Mark and Pixie - one of them would definitely have the Foxtrot, the other would have either the Foxtrot or the Waltz (I'm now starting to think maybe Mark has the Foxtrot, and Pixie possibly the Waltz).

Pixie was on Lorraine but sadly didn't reveal what she would be doing - all she said was that it's "the complete opposite of the Jive" and insinuated it was ballroom (as expected).

Pixie is on ITT tonight so will find out then.

Jake and Janette are not on until Friday.

Many, many years ago, the Ballroom Tango, a we know it, used to be a Latin dance. The (latin) jive used to be a Ballrom dance, as it is actually a swing dance.

Pixie & Trent - Waltz (ITT)

So that would strongly indicate Mark has the foxtrot along with salsa for Jake, but we should know for sure tomorrow thanks to Ian Waite.

Yep so it would seem. I'm glad they have substituted the American Smooth for the Foxtrot as a Week 2 dance after last year. I would still be miffed if I was Greg who it seems likely will be eliminated and thus not of had the chance to do ballroom.

Assume that the songs and dances will be announced before Friday. Anyway, interesting choice that AS. Seems like they went for a 3-3-1-1 split (obviously only completing it in ballroom). If so, then Jake might still have a surprising choice (a 3th Charleston or another latin dance altogether).

We usually see all the dances with Ian Waite on Weds, and I think we get songs either Weds or Thurs.

Maybe Jake will have the Jive so to at least have some continuity from last week? I'm guessing next week we shall see the remaining being introduced (Vienesse Waltz, Quickstep, Paso Doble, Rumba and Samba).

Is there really any logic in introducing the American Smooth in the same week as the Foxtrot? Then again, logic isn't something I'd associate much with Strictly any more.

Really silly isn't it and is one of my main gripes with recent years. If there is to be a mix up of dances then it shouldn't be more than four (two of each style).

Is there any logic in any of the choices they have made regarding the dances?

Completely agree. Having one couple allowed to do lifts and nobody else is particularly daft. They devalue their own show, in my view. It was much more exciting when a couple of dances, like the AS and the AT, were kept for later, when you got better dancing.

So who do you think will do better or worse this week than last? Presumably all the pros have been working on both dances through the three week's training, and presumably most of them have put more effort into the second one, when we can vote. That's what I'd do anyway. So before I've seen Ian's previews, I'd guess:
Alison & Aljaz - Foxtrot (ITT) - it will be much harder for her than the cha cha, but regardless I have high hopes for them.
Caroline & Pasha - Tango (Caroline's Twitter) - should be great.
Frankie & Kevin - Charleston (Frankie's twitter) - should suit her down to the ground. I'd expect her to have the highest score again.
Gregg & Aliona - Charleston (Aliona's Twitter) - must suit him better than the cha cha.
Jake & Janette - ? (latin) - maybe he'll have salsa so Thom isn't the only salsa. I think he's going to do well. Can't quite imagine him smiling through it though!
Jennifer & Tristan - Waltz (Saturday show) - should be lovely. Bound to look like a huge improvement on the jive.
Judy & Anton - Cha-Cha-Cha (Friday show) - not high hopes.
Mark & Karen - American Smooth (Nicky's Radio Show ) - I think he'll lift well and Karen will come up with a dramatic routine for them that will hide any problems in his top line, etc, if there are any. I'd guess he might close the show if it's good.
Pixie & Trent - Waltz (ITT) - I'm sure they'll dance it well. Needs chemistry - will be interesting to see if they can do that. Won't be easy to make this look as good as their jive, but if they can they might win a lot of people over.
Scott & Joanne - Tango (BBC Breakfast) - I think this has got to be better for him than the last dance. I thought Joanne's choreography wasn't great for the cha cha but I'm sure will be for the tango.
Simon & Kristina - Tango (ITT) - should be very dramatic and very good. Hope they get proper tango music and don't go too AT with it.
Steve & Ola - Cha-Cha-Cha (Saturday show) - I'm very nervous for them. It's hard to imagine this dance suiting him. Still, he really surprised me with how much performance he put into the tango so fingers crossed.
Sunetra & Brendan - Cha-Cha-Cha (Sunetra's twitter) - also not sure. I'm sure she'll go for it and put on a good show.
Thom & Iveta - Salsa (Saturday show) - will be very interesting. I'm assuming that Thom is going to be very good at Latin, as he and the show seem to have great faith in his dancing that wasn't shown in the waltz (imo). So could be really good.
Tim & Natalie - Waltz (Tim's twitter) - I think this will be 'father of the bride' lovely and keep him in.
Probably wrong about everyone! I think it could be a really good show.

I actually think there might be a kind of twisted logic, in that they seem to have given the ultra-hopeless people (Gregg and Scott) dances that some of the much better competitors are doing, which is going to show them up even more and get them binned off asap.

Tim and Jennifer - who, let's not forget, are integral parts of BBC stalwart shows and/or have husbands the BBC are courting to make an SCD special - have pulled a longer straw with the waltz this week, which should help them stay in the competition. Although I'm still prepared to have a cheeky fiver on Jennifer getting first boot. I mean, she can't have much of a fanbase of her own and surely Tristan isn't likeable enough to make up for that?

In fact, such is the strength of the BBC employee sway, I'm even willing to bet that Jake doesn't have a fast Latin this week, just so he doesn't show himself up straight away after what was a great tango

agree

Shame, as there are certain dances I prefer to see a little later in the series once the celebs have picked up some technique, AT is another, hoping not to see that too soon
