No wonder the poor girl was wearing gloves.”

i do read the papers, i just don't read tabloids

however, if he has a violent past, as seems to be suggested on the thread, then i can see how people would dislike him., what did he do exactly?

He's said to have had some trouble as a young adult/adolescent with football hooliganism. The second thing is to do with a story about him allegedly punching some bloke for allegedly groping Gregg's girlfriend.

By his own admission he had a rough childhood and hung around with football hooligans (some of whom went on to be part of the hardcore) and got picked up for being in fights a few times. It sounds a bit like the same sort of background as Scott Maslen had, although the stories about Gregg's family life are a bit more lurid (he discovered late on that the man that he thought was his uncle was in fact his dad, he was sexually assaulted at the age of 8).

The hotel/groping stuff was all a bit shabby but no charges were pressed as far as I'm aware.

I won't vote for him but I certainly don't hate him.

I'm not interested in the hooliganism of his teenage years - he appears to have kept within the law since then.

His number of marriages is not rare in this day and age; whether celebrity marriages or those in general society.

He was awarded full custody of his children from his second marriage - there must be a reason.

His reaction to the magazine boss who pinched his girlfriend's bottom is inexcusable - so is the behaviour of the man in question. They are as bad as each other.

He's cocky and I do dislike cockiness; his 'jokes' are lame and I would certainly tire of them (even if I liked him and his partner clearly doesn't) but Aliona will never draw the best out of him. She won't even try.

Thus his exuberance will take a battering - if he isn't out first he will be very soon.

He did violently attack the bloke - there were eyewitnesses and a picture circulated on the internet but no eyewitnesses for the alleged groping as far as I know.

thanks for the info. It actually sounds like a rather sad and distressing story in the early years and its pretty amazing he managed to get through that adolescent rage without making any serious errors, and went on to make something positive of his life. the relationship stuff is not really any of my business, people behave badly in relationships all the time, for all sorts of reasons. its certainly not enough to make me actively dislike him.

he's still a dreadful dancer though.

From what I remember reading from his second ex wife's account that he had his children with - she left him because his behaviour led her to have a nervous breakdown.

There would have to be rather more than that to get me to dislike someone.

I'm sure everyone has something they've done in their youth that they're not particularly proud of, and I would hope that if I got groped my other half would come to my defence (assuming I'd not already decked the perpetrator, of course).

Well she would say that, wouldn't she?

If the courts thought there was anything unreasonable about his behaviour, or a danger to them, they wouldn't have let him have the children, they'd have been taken into care.

I agree, it was totally odd. Not quite as odd as Michael Vaughn's redneck jive but not far off.
I don't dislike him but there are reasons to question his temper going off things printed.

The mad axe jive was relaxed though. Michael and Natalie were giggling all through it, where Gregg was just ghastly with fear. Horrible to watch. Judy at least had the ballroom hold to pull her through when her mind went blank. Gregg was all at sea and there was little Aliona could do to help him.

But at least it's a start.

I don't believe I suggested he was be a danger to his children did I?

All I suggested was that his ex wife recounted that his behaviour during their marriage was unreasonable towards her which made her have a nervous breakdown - and I have to say certain things he said about the marriage and reveals about himself during interviews - for instance he even admits that he cheated on her with other women, which leads me to believe that his behaviour must have been very distressing for his ex wife during their marriage which led to her problems and eventually made her leave her family.

Why do you distrust what his ex wife says but you seem fully prepared to believe that Gregg violently bashed a man because he allegedly 'groped' his girlfriend? There's no proof that this man 'groped' his girlfriend. So it's just Gregg and his girlfriends's word against the man who vehemently denies it.

He was a mad grimacing Rottweiler with his arse sticking out. It was the highlight of the night.

But yes, he is a dreadful dancer.
