Well if nothing else I'm sure everyone can agree that Artem and Kevin both "inspire devotion".

You've omitted the other (standard) key definition of charisma which means god-given talent, from the ancient Greek meaning 'grace'.

Even taking the partial definition of 'compelling attractiveness or charm' - you might find the qualities of 'humour' and 'lack of vanity' attractive - but my point stands that that does not define charisma.

Not sure where you got the fake tan and whitened teeth from...

The standards are fairly low.

I thought they were all crap, but I found the paso the most painful.

Kevin has plenty of dance talent reaching the very top levels when competing and personally think he has been a great addition to the show would love to see some more home grown talent on SCD in future series

The point about God-given though is to do with the seemingly inexplicable nature of the talent or the appeal. 'God' in that case is another word to describe a subjective reaction that we feel but can't source. My dog is undeniably charismatic. Charming bugger. Gets away with everything. He choreographs freestyle and I keep on loving him.

God is not another word for a 'subjective reaction'. The meaning of the ancient Greek is a gift or a favour from the Gods, in other words beyond that of other mortals.

Although applying this concept to ballroom dancing is rather falling into bathos.

Bear in mind I might be (?) an atheist so for me God 'in that case' (as I said) is exactly that naming of the unknowable. Above or below or beyond comprehension -- how can we know the difference? Eh? how?

Nah, God is everywhere if s/he is anywhere. Even in the ballroom.

Me too. Bear in mind that shortly after this Artem injures his shoulder and blames it on lifting ... Kara!

Apropos of nothing you can see how a hostile edit could make James out to be such a shit-stirrer there... I do miss James and Artem

I don't thing James is a big loss. He's kicking on, wasn't particularly good anyway. Artem is a fabulous dancer and choreographer

Oh, I agree that James is nowhere near as fabulous as Arty, and he maybe was (his choreography, I mean) becoming samey. But the production team missed a trick (IMO) in not trying to keep James within the SCD world with something tempting and new for him such as a big role in ITT. He'd have brought a bit of vim to the show and a lot of insider knowledge.

Its a pity Artem can't choreograph proper dances really.

I'm an atheist myself. You didn't define God in your previous post as the 'naming of the unknowable' but as a 'subjective reaction we feel but can't source'. That could be indigestion...

...or epilepsy

I'm not going to go on and on and on (mercifully) but I think our inner selves and workings are fascinating and unknowable stuff. And instinct... Or brain processes that our consciousness isn't aware of... God could well be hiding in dyspepsia

I'm not a real atheist, by the way. I'm a rebellious Catholic. Ha ha!

I agree with this. I can't say I terribly liked him, and I actively disliked him at the start. But he actually turned out to be a good teacher, he did good work with Cherie Lunghi, Denise. I thought James & Denise's showdance was the best showdance thus far.

Artem came across as a perfectionist bully - he had Kara, Fern, Holly and Natalie in tears. I did love a lot of his choreography though, but for most of the time he never seemed to make training a happy experience for his partners. From what we've seen of Kevin so far, he seems the complete opposite - Susannah loved her time with him, and Frankie seems very relaxed and to be enjoying herself.
