I've been watching a few interviews with Tristan online ( ) and the man is charm itself. He's a great addition to the show and a lovely teacher. Did you know he auditioned for Strictly a few years ago and was turned down!!!!!!!!! We probably got Jared Murillo or Brian Fortuna instead! What a waste. We could have had Tristan on the show for the past few years. Just goes to show the producers are often out of tune with what the viewers want. Our loss was DWTS gain.

I liked Trent and Tristan but disliked Joanne. Her choreography for Scott was terrible and this lead to his low mark.

He auditioned for series 8 but lost out to Jared, Robin and Artem.

I already adore Tristan from DWTS.
Trent hasn't made much of an impression either way yet.
Joanne needs to tone it down a few notches.

Flippin 'eck! So we got the tepid, tiny Jared instead of Tristan! Crazy, crazy producers.

I think Trent has the most difficult job of the three newbies - Scott was going to coast on likeability whatever Joanne choreogaphed for him, and nobody expects anything from Jennifer at all. Pixie on the other hand has the sort of profile where if she does turn out really good dances, everyone's just going to hand-wave and say "oh yeah, we expected that, whatever". She's the front-runner with the least natural "rootability", which is the sort of thing that reflects onto whoever their pro partner is, especially if they're in their first year. It's the same sort of position that Natalie was in in her first series with Ricky, and she didn't do a great job of it.

Which is all to say that I hope whatever happens with Trent he doesn't immediately get remainder'd into the bin along with Anya just because he was a last minute cut-in and nobody really took to him. Based on his dancing and personality so far I quite like him.

The other two I don't know yet - if Joanne's here for her ballroom prowess then it seems fair to wait on that and Tristan's fans have bigged him big style, but 99% of it is "he's so handsome/charming/Irish/nice to old ladies and kittens/not Derek Hough".

I like all 3 of them to be honest; Joanne is hampered by the fact Scott can't really dance.

Look at Janette - she had Julian last year and was panned; she's had one dance with Jake and she is now akin to Jesus.

I think Jennifer and Tristan could be around for a while; i'll imagine they will be fairly popular with the audience. Similarly Pixie and Trent will probably be there for a few weeks too; although Pixie doesn't seem to have the most likeable or warm personality.

I rather liked Trent based on the weekend showing He seems quite laid back and looks to have a good grasp of the ridiculous so hopefully won't go full on Kristina at the thought of the final.

To be honest, I think that the way Scott danced lead to his low mark more than anything else.

I'm not loving any of them at the moment but willing to change my mind if they improve.

Tristan seems lovely but I thought he exaggerated all his moves in that jive to the point where it became quite annoying and OTT. I hope he tones it down a bit.

I thought Tristan was hampered by having a slow song to jive to in the first instance - and then having to dance it even slower. It looked like he was making the steps bigger to go slower - other than actually walking it, it was probably the only thing he could do?

I remember seeing Katya and Pasha jive, and when you see the pros going full bore it makes you realise just how slow even the fastest celeb jives actually are.

When she and Paolo were competing, their choreography was quite likely to have been put together by their coaches, or at least a good deal of it. And any they put together themselves would definitely have been "tweeked" by their coaches. But Joanne was brought up in a dance school environment and should have a good knowledge of what to teach a complete novice. Agree she needs to calm down - and not just her dancing!

I thought Tristan made the jive routine way too hard for Jennifer!
Joanne came across as OTT, both choreographically and otherwise.
Haven't formed an opinion on Trent yet.

Trent I find a little bit ... I can't think of the right word for it. He seems like a nice chap, but - there's just something a little odd about him - for me. He'll probably grow on me, though.

Tristan I like. He seems likeable and charming and I'd be happy to see him stick around on the show.

I really like Joanne as well.

I would agree that, like Kevin, she almost over-dances (I'm not a dancer, so I don't know the term for it - that 130% commitment to every move.) Mind you, they've both done very well in competitions, so I'm guessing that is how you are supposed to dance. It makes me think of A Chorus Line and "Don't bop the head, Cassie!" where she's struggling to blend in with the regular chorus line dancers, and I imagine that's why she gets some flack on here for it.

Personality wise, I think she's coming across really well and I'd like to see her stick around as well.

Like everyone else on here has said....am liking Tristan enormously, great personality, lovely dancer although possibly, as someone else said, the choreography was too difficult for a week one dance, with a partner who doesn't seem to have much rhythm.

Trent ..... Looks like he should have been home and in bed hours earlier ....but I think he did fairly well with the choreography, it wasn't TOO much about him, and hopefully he will grow me...bcos Pixie sure hasn't so far !

Joanne....no, just no on every count....she comes across like some manic wannabe desperado, the routine was all about her. I didn't think it was possible to dislike someone more than TTG, but she tops even him in my book.

Scott wasn't great but Joanne gave him a disco routine instead of a cha cha cha. I don't think it helped him.

Monkseal's blog recap (with pictures) have finally made me see who Joanne really looks like:

Not only in looks, but some of the poses she had on the Friday show were very similar

I really like Tristan he seems very likeable and I just love his accent, think he put a bit too much into Jennifer's first routine though. Joanne will grow on me but she does need to calm down, I expect her ballroom will be amazing. Trent I barely noticed, no idea why but its early days

I like Tristan the best. Joanne's choreography was a bit disappointing.

Though not necessarily with Scott in tow, perhaps.

I didn't think Tristan's jive was too hard for Jennifer. I thought she coped really well with memorising the steps and her sense of rhythm seems fine... I just don't think jive is really her dance in that it requires a lot of energy and bounce. None of the steps were too complicated for her to do, but I think she would struggle to execute even the most basic steps with the levels of energy required to look good.

The more I watch Joanne's cha cha back the more I am a little bit disappointed with it. The cha cha bits that were in there scott was absolutely pants at so maybe he should have just stood there doing the robot and punching the air for the whole song tbh. excited to see what she does in ballroom with him.

LOL

I'll have to go read Monkseal's recap.

I really was looking forward to Joanne on Strictly - she really is a beautiful and versatile ballroom dancer - and pretty.

Just has to avoid being Antonette.

Early days - hopes are still high.

Tristan is coming across very well, getting on great with Jennifer and choreographed a proper Jive. Gold Star.

Trent is doing OK, but I guess Pixie wasn't expecting him to make her look fat. He could do with a good meal - and Pixie is perfectly slim by the way.
The Jive didn't come across as well as I would have expected, but they are getting along well and lets give everyone time to settle in.

'Over-dancing' is a perfectly acceptable dance term.

There are 2 types of competition - 1 tends to go for the more sophisticated dancing, the 2nd more bash-and-dash. That's a bit over-simplifying, but you get the picture? I prefer the 1st group; Joanne comes from the 2nd type.

To be honest I'd just like Ian and Robin back and Lilia ( but I know she's having a baby.)
