Is game becoming more popular.

ALDI and LIDL are stocking venison steaks, venison burgers and whole pheasants and some other birds.

Do you like it?

Oh yes. Mr BC and I love it. Think we've tried most game out there and you cannot beat a nice bit of venison steak with some homemade light red wine gravy.

We had pigeon breast last week and the week before even had zebra! (OMG, that was lovely!)

I had a wee individual game pie from my local butcher last week - I know there was rabbit in it but I can't remember what else (he told me but I have a memory like a sieve). It was absolutely delicious!!

I like venison but not too keen on game birds (be serious!)
Bought a rabbit last xmas, casseroled it but couldn't bring myself to eat it. Didn't even taste it. My mate scoffed the lot though.

Yes, but wouldnt' buy the frozen stuff from Aldi and Lidl, don't think it's something that lends itself well to being frozen.

I think we generally hang it too long in the UK. I do like it but I prefer it on the continent where it's slightly less gamey.

I love it, although I love all meat, I'm yet to try a meat I've not liked. Venison is one of my favourites though, a lovely rare steak. Cooked it the other week when friends came round. Did it with smoked cheese and garlic mash, roasted beetroot and a red wine and chocolate sauce. Everyone loved it.

I've a mate that goes shooting too and he often gets me pigeon and rabbit.

Both my wife and I love venison.
I've certainly had rabbit, freshly caught.
My neighbour handed it to me intact after he'd killed it.
I didn't have a clue what to do so he gave it to me later fully prepared for the oven.
We made a delicious pie.
I've eaten kangaroo and ostrich but we're talking "exotic" rather than game.

If mutton counts I made this last week after watching SK Best Bites.
I used mutton instead of beef.
I really recommend it.

The other bird was Guinea Fowl.

Love all game. venison might be my favourite meat of all. Rabbit is brilliant, makes a really good curry. Hare is even better, very different, much gamier. Of the game birds, my favourite is partridge, through it isn't easy to come by.

To disagree with somebody above, it freezes very well, so when we see any we stock up the freezer.

Ah yes, I'm sure we picked up two last year from Lidl, or was it Aldi?
Frozen but very nice.
