I've switched it off on my iPhone (6S Plus) because I had several issues:

- I do a lot of conference calls on speaker phone. There seems to be a bug with the iPhone in that when it hands over from wi-fi calling to VOLTE (and back again), it would switch the speaker phone off. V annoying.
- Calls would disconnect randomly...
- Calls would disconnect if I went from wi-fi calling to 4G to an area that only had 2G.
- I had a call that disconnected when someone rang me when I was on a call. It seemed to trigger call waiting briefly then disconnected my active call.
- Some outgoing calls I made were completely silent (couldn't hear the other caller at all). The only way to get it working again was to reboot the phone.

I'll try it again after the next iOS update - it might fix some of the issues.

Interestingly though, when I have wi-fi calling switched off then I'm never able to make VOLTE calls but if I switch it on again then VOLTE becomes active again.

Overall, not the greatest of experiences so far! However, In my house I have full reception so not too much of an issue for me...
Is VOLTE available now in the UK on EE?

Yes, although only in certain areas (I believe...), on specific handsets, and it hasn't been officially announced.

Thanks. Is it available in London on iPhone?

Well I live in SE London with an iPhone so yes. Can't vouch for the other parts of London though...

I can get calls to handover from Wifi to VoLTE in London.

1) Select 'Voice & Data' under 'Enable 4G' in the 'Mobile Data' section of an iPhone 6/6S (Plus)
2) Enable Wifi Calling on the phone
3) Start a call on Wifi Calling and either lose the Wifi Signal or turn off Wifi
4) If you 4G coverage then the call should stay on 4G.
* If you only have 3G the call will drop

This works for me in London. Apparently there may be a soft launch of VoLTE next week but anything could change.

That's interesting. They seem to have kept it pretty quiet.

My office in Liverpool St is a bit of a 4G black hole so I can't check. It'd be great if it was silently enabled

That works for me too, but I live near a couple of areas that are 2G only (i.e. deep in Sainsburys ) where the call will drop when I lose the 4G - not a big deal because I don't make enough calls for it to happen often, but when it does happen it's annoying.

How do you know if you have VOLTE calling on your phone? Is there a way of telling it's a VOLTE call?

Make a call - check the screen, if it still shows 4G (LTE) then you're using VoLTE as to make the call the phone drops to 3G or 2G otherwise.

Also if you go to Settings -> General -> About and click on the number beside 'Carrier' then it should change to 'Voice & Data'. If it doesn't then VoLTE isn't enabled. The same happens when you switch on Wifi Calling.

Mine says voice and SMS so I guess VoLTE isn't enabled.

My bad, yes it's 'voice and sms'. So if you aren't on Wifi Calling you should have VoLTE

Great thanks. If only I could make calls at home now without WiFi calling enabled I'd be sorted.

I've posted the latest official word from EE concerning 4G Calling / VoLTE at the bottom of p14 onwards in the 'EE 2G/3G/4G Discussion Thread (Part 2)' thread: http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showt...141288&page=14

Anyone else on the Nexus (5X / 6P) finding that Wifi Calling stops working after a while? It seems to be when moving to another access point (i.e. going to work / back). The only way to get it back is to reboot the phone - I can't find any other way whether it's toggling wifi calling on and off, wifi on and off, IMS registration on and off in the test menu (don't know what that does but heard it mentioned for Wifi Calling), etc.

Have you tried turning airplane mode on then turn WiFi on and then turn airplane mode off?

Yep (along with many other combinations!)
So far I've only found a reboot to be capable of fixing it. There seem to be a few people having the same issue on T-Mobile in the US, but not many...

Is the Nexus 6P from GPS officially supported on EE or could we see it disabled at any time?

I have had the issue with wifi calling stopping but it hasn't always needed a reboot, not worked out a pattern yet though.

I was under the impression from comments on this and other threads that EE hadn't yet rolled out VOLTE. Have I got that wrong?

There's coverage in Bristol, Liverpool, Manchester, Cardiff and SE London according to some posters on here.

It's a soft launch, without publicity, but very much usable by those with the right phone and having enabled it.
