It's supposed to. I'll test it out tomorrow.
See my post above. Don't bother, it won't work.
It's not possible to hand off from IP based WiFi calling to Circuit switched 2G or 3G.
Once VoLTE is up and running you will be able to handoff both to and from WiFi calling.

This evening i have gone round specially to see my sister as she has a EE branded S5 ...
Do you have to own an EE branded phone, or is it available to customers with SIM-Free phones? I'm thinking of joining but I may not get a handset contract. For one thing I don't want that horrible logo on the back of my handset - at least the Orange one was attractive. (In fact my Graphic Design Creative Director brother says the Orange branding was one of the best ever and that it is a shame they ditched it in favour of the current monstrosity).

I seem to recall something similar that IIRC never took off when I was on Orange . It was only available on a very small number of handset brands and only those with Orange firmware.

I noticed my iPhone said Cellular too so went into settings to take a look and sure enough my language was set to "English" as opposed to "English (U.K.)". I changed this and iOS did some reconfiguring and now it calls that section of settings Mobile rather than Cellular. I have certainly never specifically changed that setting myself so my guess is that it may be the default setting, at least for Apple-supplied iPhones.

Note that it is the iPhone Language setting that ought to be "English (U.K.)" - you may have seen the Region being set to United Kingdom and assumed that was what was being talked about. Mine was set to United Kingdom for the Region but English for the iPhone Language.
Bizarre. Language was definitely showing as English UK, went in and tapped English UK, it said 'Setting Language', went back into the Settings app and it now says Mobile...

Roll on the iPhone roll out...

If its as bad as 'Volte in its infancy' you may have to use something similar to this 'easy fix'.
http://www.imore.com/your-iphone-6-o...-att-heres-fix

Terminology is getting ever more weird. 'Easy fix' decodes to 'Turn it off'.

This is because LTE to 3G handoff either wasn't implemented or wasn't working properly.
Probably why EE are waiting for A: Their 4G 1800/2600 to be near 98% and B: 800Mhz to be rolled out before turning on VoLTE.
I don't know if they are going to have 4G to 3G handoff (I assume so) but if they aren't (at least initially) then down here at least they are going to want to have 800 everywhere first otherwise there will be one hell of a lot of dropped calls.

I only ever buy direct from Apple and I've never had one set to English or saying Cellular (as opposed to English UK and Mobile). Maybe you changed it to English (thinking that was the default UK setting) when going through the set up pages when you got it?

A strange occurrence, no matter how it happened though.
If you power on a new iPhone without a SIM, the first prompt will have English at the top, and then it prompts for a SIM. If you fit the network SIM first then power on, you'll find the first prompt will have English UK at the top.

In Chicago AT&T have have issues with their LTE network. My family on the east cost using Verizon have had no issues with VoLTE since enabling it at Christmas. Just works they report.

Also that iMore article refers to "4G" but as we know they mean 3G.

There are issues in New York city too, with I think T-Mobile, who don't own much spectrum.

The USA is a strange country...

That figures, I always put the sim in first,

I think of it as a collection of countries. The radio freqs sold by "market" is old and still odd.

That's a bit of a bummer. Really didn't want an EE branded phone. Am I overly concerned with that aspect. I was orange and hated the intrusive firmware. Is there any issue with receiving android and any other updates with operator firmware these days? I know it used to take Orange ages and they would even stop issuing them for an obsolete model even if said updates were still available. Not keen.on having a logo eithrr. Do EE routinely. put their logo on their handsets? The photo in the free powerbank promotion has one.

The only difference I noticed when I changed to the EVR firmware, Other than having wifi calling of course, was a couple of extra apps which I deleted. There is no EE branding coming up on my phone. Regarding future firmware if it doesn't come OTA I will go to Sammobile.

Thanks. Do you have a horrible logo on your phone? And what's Sammobile?

Apologies for briefly going off-topic but what's been your experience of EE customer service?

Tried it anyway and yes you are correct, as soon as I go out of wifi range the call disconnects.

Do you have the options WiFi preferred, cellular preferred and WiFi only or is it just a toggle?
