Got my sister's boyfriend who has an S5 mini from EE to text, and he got the "thanks for for activating..." reply, so looks like it might work on those too

So I got Sorry, we can't add WIFI calling to your EE plan. You can find out why you may not be eligible at ee.co.uk/wificalling

Wasn't my personal phone. It was a friends, Who works for a TV News company with a "large" EE account.. Besides i've already used wifi calling on an iPhone awhile ago.. BUT none on my own phone so I don't deserve that title.
Talking of TV companies I see the Live broadcasts from the campaign buses are nearly always without any breakup now. I know they use all the networks normally with some bit of kit that can switch to the best high speed connection. Still think they're brave to use cellular to transmit video on a moving bus though.

DevonBloke- The technology that Sky news are using for their election coverage uses I think it's 10 different Sim cards all bonded together for around 10-20mpbs stream minimum. The sims are from EE,O2,Vodafone,3,Truphone and Lyca and they are normally have at least 2 EE and Vodafone ones in at a time this works using both 3&4G
They have also have some EE cat6 mifis units to uplink non live footage the election night itself will show coverage of more seats than ever a lot using mobile coverage and is this is why Vodafone have had a team going round upgrading equipment and coverage in key seat areas |

Right so it's the 7th tomorrow.
Is this when it all kicks off proper? Will we finally "Watch this space" and actually see some information on "When WiFi calling will go live"? Even though we know it's live already! ![]() Will I see it on my iPhone 6 before December?? Will it work on my borderline 2Mbps ADSL with DG834 router?? Will it be better than my Signal box in that calls won't break up so much if someone starts using the broadband for something else??? Will Nick Clegg become Prime Minister?? Will pigs fly?? Answers on a postcard.......

Answers on a postcard....... ![]() EDIT1: Done some digging on my jailbroken 6 Plus, and in the Carrier Bundle... There is a reference to using EE Wi-Fi as the DisplayName, so I think that the 18.0 Carrier Update can support Wi-Fi Calling. We shall see... EDIT2: This was a mobileconfig file, and I emailed it to myself, installed it on my iPhone as a profile, and it seems to just be access to the EE Wi-Fi London Underground network? |

Engadget has the same story about it launching on 10th April on the Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge, and the Lumia 640. No iPhone support at launch.

To demonstrate the power of WiFi Calling, EE held a launch event in the basement of the Imperial War Museum's Churchill War Rooms, of all places.

Lord Lucan- Yes most broadcasts will be satellite uplinks on election night but there will be over 50 done using Live U and similar mobile network technology. The info I posted about who provides the network comes from Sky News tech team themselves https://twitter.com/skynewstech/stat...35915908796416 hopefully that link works as they are a really interesting follow.
Back on topic it's excellent that Wifi Calling is officially launched now although I am not sure I like the sound of the comment on the EE website that it will be available for new customers on IPhone 5C upwards in a few weeks but existing customers will be a few months. If this is to be true and a further wait I can see there being some very annoyed existing customers and possible misselling claims as they made such a thing about it and kept customers hanging on. I am sure most will be understanding of a couple of weeks to update everybody but not a few months |

Interesting. I do a lot of work with them, it seems the campaign bus is using the same tech (LU) the BBC did for the Olypmic Torch relay journey, so it is slightly unusual for Sky. Who usually just use EE exclusively.
Btw they are not using Truphone, for some reason some systems show that for an EE sim ![]() 5c & 5S customers will take longer to wade through because there is so many compared to 6(+) so they are keeping expectations low. Where as it will be provisioned straight away (near enough) when you purchase a new 5c - 6+ As part of the phone/account activation just like VV etc. |
