Sadly, "I don't like it, so it shouldn't be shown" is all too common on the DS forums. It's as if some people just don't grasp subjectivity.

Lol yes there is an off button and a change channel button! Oh and even a change source button that means you can switch to your DVD/BluRay player which on CRTs is likely called something else but will give you Scart inputs most likely!

It's not Horror but it's being shown on the Horror Channel and Doctor Who is a Fantasy series for kids.

Horror Channel is meant to show Horror Movies and maybe a few Horror themed tv series like Tales From The Crypt during the day.

It would be tough to fill the daytime schedule with Horror movies. Most of them would need to be either very old, made for children or cut to ribbons.

Channel names aren't all that literal anymore. Just look at all the non-historical stuff on History Channel or the vast majority of MTV programmes which have little to do with music.

At least Horror Channel shows a lot of Horror at night. The time most people would reasonably expect Horror to be shown.

Its clear you dislike Doctor Who. Fine. Plenty of people like it. For a start, Doctor Who is Horror's most watched show. Its not even on all day as you imply. Its also not a kids show, it's a family programme. If you don't want to watch it, turn over to something else. You're not forced to watch it.

Should really sort out the EPG on Freeview as there is load of gaps and nothing has filled them yet.

Yes I total would say that If you do not like Dr Who then with multi channel TV and Iplayers and PVR's there is no need to watch it even I feel you are mad LOL ...
OK I have say I own ALL the DVD's and Blu Rays of Doctor Who and spin off but I still like to watch it on Horror, Drama, BBC Three, BBC One, BBC Four and SyFy too ..

I also like Horror & Sci Fi and I find that many films and shows can and do use both like Dr Who, Blake 7, Predator, Sign's, Starship Troopers, Aliens and other all have mix of both subjects ...

Agee that Freeview EPG / LCN needs a big clean up and not a little move around as done in the past.
It would be nice to see sister channels next to each other on the EPG along with SD & HD together in the line up.

So CBS can have CBS Action next to Horror channel.

The only way to do that would be to say the current EPG LCN contracts for the actual numbers is to come to an end in say 6months then get all current broadcasters to apply for a block of slots which would include SD and HD with PSB broadcasters getting priority over the other broadcasters.
The News, Kids and Adult sections would have to stay and if the likes of QVC are being kicked off their 'good' low number then a shopping section could be created by shifting kids to 100-119 and news to 120-139 then putting shopping at 140-159.
Allow HD swaps where it can be implemented maybe by sending different NITs with BBC B mux and COM 7 that only Freeview HD recognises, so if you can get BBC B and not COM 7 only the BBC B channels swap where appropriate, but if you get COM 7 then that NIT trumps BBC B meaning that all HD channels swap where appropriate.
Freeview HD boxes should be set to default to 1080p output over HDMI anyway so it shouldn't cause resolution switching unless the user wants it. That would have the added side effect of aways outputting a 16:9 image meaning 4:3 content gets pillarboxed by default too!

Regarding the EPG rules, isn't 64 free following Jewellery Maker's removal from COM7? In which case, surely CBS Action would be allowed to jump up to 64 as a 'related channel' of Reality on 66, under the same rules that allowed, say, Food Network to jump from 48 to 41 after its sibling Travel Channel launched on 42?

True. Although Travel got 42, rather than a slot at the bottom of the channel list because of Food Network being on 48!

There's also a small chance ITVBe+1 could leapfrog to 64, as ITV associated channels have done similar things before, although if I remember correctly, I think technically the occupant of channel 66 is asked if they want the slot before the occupant of channel 62.

Anyway, from a PR point of view, this Friday would be a good date to announce the channel's arrival on Freeview...!!!

Unfortunately incorrect. ITV have first claim to the slot:

DigitalUK LCN Policy
Quote:
“Article 8.2 (ii)
Secondly, to existing associated channels (as defined under paragraph 6.1) already on the platform at LCNs higher than the vacated LCN, in the following way:
* Firstly, to a channel which is associated with the channel which is immediately above the vacated LCN;
* Secondly, to a channel which is associated with the channel which is immediately below the vacated LCN;
* Thirdly, to a channel which is associated with the channel which is two positions above the vacated LCN;
* Fourthly, to a channel which is associated with the channel which is two positions below the vacated LCN;
* And so on for up to five positions above and below the vacated LCN; and then if it remains vacated
”

In the case of LCN 64 - the order is Community Channel, TBN, ITV, CBS, CSC, CSC (again), Triple Broadcast Co, TruTV, BT, TruTV (again)

No, because that would be a TLCS.
DTPS licences are only for DTT (Freeview) broadcasts over the air.

It would mean that youview TalkTalk would have to drop it then if it is going to exist as a regular freeview channel!

Do streamed channels require a DTPS licence? If so, could it be one of many channels the new Freeview is bringing to the line up?

An announcement on Friday the 13th would have been no more noticeable than an announcement on any other day. In fact, they would probably have needed to signpost "Look what day we picked to announce this!" in the press release for it to be appreciated by most people.

Now, a launch on Friday the 13th is a different matter as it would give us a memorable date to tune in.
