What can I buy to put underneath a hot pan/pot that has just been removed from the hob if example I wanted to move the pan/pot onto a table?
I'm thinking regular over gloves probably work, since they do a decent job of insulating your hands from the heat. But I'm looking for something flat and sturdy. |

For the table one of these Le Creuset Cool Tools and for worktops a regular trivet in a design that takes your fancy: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Le-Creuset-C...eywords=trivet
For a permanent solution on kitchen worktops buy a set of these self adhesive rods: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Worktop-Hot-...eywords=trivet |

Trivets.
Either metal or silicone. Silicone are obviously lighter to handle and easier to store and clean. |

I have 2 types [ got 2 of each design ] ...... that I bought some time ago from *Ikea*
2 pairs are quite large in area and made from multiple attached -slim steel rods- & 2 smaller ones made from steel with spaces to spell out the word HOT made into the design ........... on the part that you place a hot item I think* joseph joseph * sell some made of colourful silicons - that can be folded away when not in use *Lakeland* must have some modern trivets too here is one of their fold up ones http://lakelandcamel.scene7.com/is/i.../16007_1?$155$ |

I have some round cork worktop savers, they are really cheap from Dunelm.
They are so light that you can just pop them in a drawer when not in use. Totally heatproof. |
