Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett have been booked to perform on a Strictly Come Dancing 2014 live show – in a move that may leave The X Factor sweating.

BBC One has announced that the ‘Bad Romance’ singer and the jazz legend will grace the Strictly dancefloor on October 19th in one of its highest-profile guest appearances to date.

The duo will sing a track from their new collaborative album ‘Cheek to Cheek’.

The official @BBCStrictly Twitter account posted: “Get ready to Cha Cha for Gaga! @ItsTonyBennett and @LadyGaga will be dancing cheek to cheek on Strictly.”

The news is likely to leave bosses at ITV rival The X Factor – who are known to go all-out to secure star guests – worried that big names will now flock to Strictly, which continues to thrash it in the ratings war.

If she only does one of the shows, Gaga’s decision to switch sides could be seen as a snub, as she’s performed on X Factor on three occasions in the past – and its eighth series even featured a ‘Queen vs. Lady Gaga’ themed week.

Although Gaga and Bennett’s jazz music might seem better suited to Strictly, it would also have fit in with X Factor’s traditional ‘Big Band’ week.

To be fair GaGa isn't as popular in the UK as she was 3/4 years ago so I doubt X Factor are really worried about that plus it makes more sense to promote a jazz album with Tony Bennett on Strictly than X Factor. Looking forward to it though she's far better when she performs stripped back material and isn't trying to be outrageous!

Not a X- factor fan but calling BS on this.

Ancient crooner at in the twilight years of his career, & rapidly fading pop star past her prime, does jazz standards album. WOW!

More likely is there has never been any kind of invite from X-Factor (theyre after whats current after all, & their demographic dont tend to go for Jazz)
This sort of MOR thing is much more suited to SCD's music guest slot. Ive never been a fan of it to be honest, its kinda dull.

.
Assuming your WOW is sarcasm(?), these are my feelings exactly; the best that can be said of them is that it will give time to make a cuppa

I think Gaga/Bennett combination will surprise most people. I have seen her sing with Tony Bennett ( on TV) and was pleasantly surprised at her change in style. I was very impressed and thought she was amazing.
