Tonight's tango music for all of the contestants was really poor.

I wish, even if they do not do a traditional tango, they would do one to music that would at go with the tango! The spice girls and Caroline's music was just totally wrong for it IMO. I miss the great tangos with suitable music, be it traditional or a song that befits it.

I agree, and the music for Simon's tango wasn't good either. I like the traditional tango music. Also, they used to rely on Sinatra a lot for the ballroom numbers, but you don't hear him much on the show nowadays - such a shame. Let's hope things improve and we get some better music that's more suitable for the dances.

Yes Simon's too, I forgot him, I knew there was another one!

A lot of the music is just totally wrong, I don't know why production are doing this to the show. Is it to appeal to a wider audience? I don't see why a tango to the spice girls is going to appeal more then one that fits with the tango.
These songs have no passion to them so how can they get into the right frame of mind and stance.

As an experienced dancer I know how music makes you become the dance and get into the right mood. I feel like they are talking down to us as an audience with things like this.

I felt that overall the routines with appropriate music (Thom, Jake, Tim, Alison) went down a lot better than the routines that had characterless pop music that left the dances without an identity (Caroline, Simon, Mark, Sunetra).

I couldn't believe someone thought Stop by the Spice Girls would make for a good tango!! Whoever thought that up needs to look for another job. Awful.

They'll be getting them to waltz to a bit of hip-hop next.
What name??

It makes it harder for many of them that the music isn't shaping the dance

The music for all 3 tango's was dire. Not remotely suitable. I'm not even a music purist. I'' usually enjoy most things they throw at us but not tonight. Whoever chose those songs should be ashamed of themselves.

I was underwhelmed when I first heard what Pasha & Caroline were to dance to, but was relieved they got that after hearing the song playing in the background when Scott & Joanne were on (I can't imagine they were actually dancing to it).

Or Charleston to a 50's rock and roll number.
Oh, hang on ...

Stop by The Spice Girls for a tango?!?!

WTF!!!!!!

Who ever thought that would be a good choice needs to be sacked immediately

The band obviously can't emulate what a DJ "does" when performing a track, but Caroline's dance was robbed - all the faster parts were set around the chorus of the "song", which sounded very Magaluf '95 - a mismatch.

It's annoying because I think with the right music Caroline and Pasha's dance would've had much more impact.

I LOVED Caroline and Pasha's Tango. I love EDM and it was so refreshing for the band to try EDM and succesed IMO Well I loved it.

Seriously bizarre music by whoever thought that up.

It'd be maybe slightly acceptable for something like a salsa or maybe cha-cha-cha (and even then there'd be far better songs to choose) but totally unsuitable for a tango.

How the hell is someone meant to produce a good tango from that music?
Scott's not the most natural dancer so far but I doubt anyone would've had a chance with that music.

Abysmal choices, though I surprisingly didn't hate the Ed Sheeran track at all. Whoever is choosing the music these days has no experience or understanding of it. It's insulting.

It was just on the chorus - I don't think the band have the instruments to reproduce the right sound. Could've done with a couple of extra speakers tbh.

I think we saw last year the difference music can have when you compare Kevin's Paso with Ola's - I'm not even an Ola fan and that just smacked of unfairness.

That;s what bothers me with the pros no longer having control of their own music choices or staging now - it is very easy for certain pairings to continually get good choices that suit the dances they are doing, and others to get bad ones.

The producers have been making these crass music choices for some years now. It is their show and they are going to dumb it down so there.

Is it down to lack of musicality on their part or just populist dumbing down? I suspect they would rather not have any dancing at all.

Shame.

As I've said many times over the years, the tango works best when it's danced to 'proper' tango music. I just don't think the dance works as well, when the music doesn't fit properly!

Then the judges complain about not much Charleston. Song choices this week for the dances were rubbish.

Some of the best tangos on the show have been done to Prince, The Police, Eurythmics, James Bond themes, Gloria Gaynor, Madonna, ABBA and even Rihanna. I don't think it has to be traditional, it just has to work. And all three of the choices tonight were dreadful.

My all time favourite tango was Kristina and Jason to ' I will survive ' - hardly trad music or theming but the tempo was spot on without effort, and the character of the dance could be expressed. Tonight's horrors were barely the right tempos. And really ridiculous to make Kevin manufacture a Charleston to Happy Days.

I do prefer traditional music but of course this show has to appeal to a difference audience, not just dancers. I don't mind them using non traditional music but please ensure they are strict tempo, or re-arrange them so they are. The music on this show is quite appalling at times.
