It seemed to build from one thing you couldn't believe he was doing to another - particularly when he was just holding her at the back of the neck with his leg etc. That's exciting. (imo obviously.) Pixie danced a lovely waltz, very well done by both of them, but it felt like something easily within her ability and not special, and personally I didn't feel any chemistry or relationship between her and Trent to make it more than that.

I have seen lots of early waltzes I've really loved but I think that partnership and connection is crucial. I think it's hard for the ones who already can dance to build up the sense of connection with their partners. Someone who can't dance, like Jennifer or Tim, they totally depend on their partner to protect them, they keep firmly fixed on their pro, and it creates, when they are lucky, a really lovely atmosphere and sense of a partnership. Lots of pop stars on Strictly can come across a bit like their pro is a backing dancer, not because they are any less lovely people, just because they don't need them as much as some. I don't know if that makes sense, but I do think it's a difficulty for them.”

You're absolutely spot on, on both accounts. Jake's salsa was unexpected, a show stopper and performed, imo, by the most unlikeliest person. I certainly wasn't expecting him to take the risks he did. It could have gone so horribly wrong but he pulled it off. He was probably slightly overmarked but it was very good to watch.
I don't really know how you can compare a waltz to a salsa. They're working on different levels. Pixie and Trent were good too. The relationship between celebrity and professional dancer is key and aside from the dancing I think that's what really wins over the public vote. IMO, there are two things with Pixie:
1. she makes it look too easy. It''s dancing by numbers, where's the difficulty? where's the challenge? Maybe this will come in the latter stages but people do like to see a 'journey'. There is none at the moment.
2. There's not really much of a spark betweeen her Trent. Quite frankly, they're boring. Again, this could improve over time. He's very new and we're just getting to know him as a dancer.

By all means have a view on her apparent actions, but I am quite baffled by postings that claim to know what she's feeling and thinking.

I agree it was so good it looked almost unreal, they are both so blonde and agile it was like watching two fairies dance.

I think for me I was expecting so much from her; a bit like I did with Denise VA.
She trained at Italia Conti Theatre Arts School, where they do at least basic dance training. She's also been in musicals, (Chitty Chitty Bang Bang & The Sound Of Music) so obviously she's experience of learning professional choreography & must be able to act! Add to that her experience as a Pop Princess; she'll be used to performing live in front of big audiences - I just knew she would be good.
Jake is a rough diamond & I know he went to the Anna Scher Theatre School but it was more of an after school drama club for East End kids, (please correct me if I'm wrong) so I was blown away at his naturalness & 'go for it' attitude.
As Madge says, it's early days yet perhaps Pixie will put more chutzpah into her dances & blow us away too (she seems too busy at the mo to do more than go through the motions) & maybe Jake has peaked too early?

I must say I was mightily impressed with Pixie on Saturday. Not the biggest fan of hers or Trent but that waltz was dreamy. Great song choice, great dance, great colour scheme, lol

Jake was superb and I concur that it was such a surprise, we don't get many good Salsas and for him to do that in the second week was amazing. Fantastic control and rhythm.

I would also concur with the posters to have said Pixie's VT didn't work and will not endear her to anyone. At least last year when Ashley and Patrick were busy with Hollyoaks and Casualty respectively, they showed them making every effort to do their dance training and work on it even in the corridors. With Trent seemingly having to harass Pixie to train and her irreverent and jokey attitude towards it, it struck me not that she didn't have time but that she couldn't be bothered and was finding chat shows more fun to go to which is not going to go down well with the public, especially with shots of Trent watching the TV with a face like thunder.

I wonder what they were actually trying to achieve with that because they couldn't possibly have made Pixie look worse, as though the show was beneath her or something. If they were trying to give us a "look at how well Pixie did with such little training", it's Mission Failed.

The Waltz was good but they need to be promoting her a lot better. If they do, she and Jake I would say will definitely be in the final.
