I never said Tim was creepy. I said I found Jake creepy and I stand by my opinion of him. Ashley didn't come across as creepy to me not because he is young but because he is just a nice bloke. Tim IMO is a gentleman and I have nothing against him. It must another poster on here who said he was creepy. Not me.

Disagree strongly on Jake. I think Jake is just very uncomplicated. He's there to dance, enjoy it and hopefully win. There's no story and he doesn't need it hence he's a lot more relaxed.

With Abbey it was mostly a nervous reaction like Ashley and plenty others celebrities. Also due to the fact that she is a very touchy/feely kind of person...
A few days ago , when she was on the Friday panel she was grabbing Louis who was sitting next to her multiple times....once again, she's like that with kids, women, men....some people are just very affectionate....doesn't necessarily mean anything negative.... or creepy
My point is whether it's Aljaz, Susanna, Zoe......, it doesn't make a difference, that's just how she is....

I don't know why some people are finding excuses for Ashley BUT with her, it HAS to be the worst something negative

Anyways, to answer the Op question I don't find it it creepy and besides , Tim probably doesn't realize it. And I'm sure that Natalie would have said something if she felt uncomfortable with it.

I'll preface this by saying that I like Allison and that her and Aljaz are one of my favorites couple this year.

BUT now that we're on the subject, why don't I see people complaining about her being very touchy-feely with Aljaz ? To the point of " objectifying him " even ? They even had a little video about it in their last interview for goodness sake ...

Had it been Rachel, Abbey, Pixie, Caroline or Susanna ( I distinctly remember people complaining about her being touchy feely with Kevin last year ) ....people would have been complaining so why does Allison gets a pass

Tim is 61 and has been happily married for nearly 40 years - I don't think we should even go there. He's just an overtly eccentric, hilarious old chap who's giving it a good go!

Agreed, and in this thread I feel that people are seeing what they want to see rather than what is there.

What I don't like is opinions about people being creepy, lecherous, handy, whatever while hiding behind a screen name. Stating a fact such not liking Gregg saying he doesn't wear underpants is different to saying something about what you perceive rather than what is fact. You don't know what the consequences of a remark like that could be. If you've got something negative to say about how you feel about a person's character which is based on your opinion then have the guts to do it under your real name.

As has been said many others have given a look, made a lightly risqué remark, touched an arm, or whatever but there was nothing sinister intended by it even though some will see more in it than actually is. The celebs and professionals are in a strange position of having to get close to a stranger without any sexuality actually being involved. Although some have succumbed in the past, it doesn't happen often.

I think Tim looks at Natalie in a lecherous way. Now, he may be of a generation where that was acceptable but it makes me feel uncomfortable. He also slides his hand down to her backside when they are with Claudia upstairs after dancing and again it doesn't sit right with me.

He may be a perfectly nice old man and those who know him or have met him seem to be of one mind on this. My point is, as someone who does not know him, his actions make me feel uncomfortable.

As regards Jake, I think he is shy, and does not want to be seen as touchy feely so maybe he is coming across as a bit standoffish but I don't think that is the case.

Tim is exactly the same with his 'Bargain Hunt' contestants, whether they are young, old, male or female. He is wonderful with them.

So it's ok that girls and some of the judges openly drool over the male celebs and touching is ok because they're a touchy feely person but when males do it they're vilified for being creepy. Double standards and too much is read into things on this forum.

I am surprised and saddened that anyone would suggest Tim is creepy. I havn't seen any discomfort from Natalie - quite the contrary having seen them in rehearsal footage on ITT rolling around the floor laughing their heads off!

I didn't see his hands wandering anywhere they shouldn't but then I'm not looking for it! Neither did I notice Ashley doing anything like that? I guess when they are talking to Tess/ Claudia, whoever, I watch their faces and I am involved in what they are saying.

I am sure it is all as harmless and meaningless as Alison etc resting a hand on their male partners!

Agree with both of these - it's fine for Tess, Claudia and Darcy to drool over Steve's and Thom's muscles (and even for Bruno and Craig to make suggestive remarks) but as soon as it's the other way round everyone starts shouting 'Perv...'.

I bet if Len was drooling over Pixie or Caroline the way the girls do over Thom and Steve there'd be hell to pay...

I think the difference here is the societal view that men want sex at all times and that a woman's attentions, whether wanted or not, is ultimately flattering for us and programmes into a constant need for sexual contact. We see this with the recent revelations in the US about those teachers who had a threesome with the student. They are young, attractive teachers and it's not considered abuse by the public whereas two men, no matter how good looking, would be considered perverts if they did the same to a 16 year old girl. It's a double standard.

For anyone who doesn't know, Ashley was picked up for running his hands across Ola's waist and her hips.

I would say a few things though:

Ola and Natalie are strong women and if there was something inappropriate that they felt uncomfortable with, they would put an immediate stop to it. Tim and Ashley's wives (as well as Peter Crouch in Abbey's case) don't seem to be bothered either and if they thought something was wrong, I'm sure they'd be having words with their husbands.

Some people are more touchy-feely and open to physical contact by nature, it does not mean there is anything sexual going on. Some of my female friends who are happily married are like this, it doesn't mean they have any interest in a sexual relationship or cheating on their partners. It's the way they are.

In circumstances like this, the dancers and celebs have to be physically close to each other as well as acting romantic with each other for certain dances. Being comfortable with physical contact is vitally important for the dances and I don't see any problem in this manifesting itself outside of the dance and I like seeing the celebrities and dancers build a genuine bond with each other.

Of course, with the intensity of it, it's inevitable with as many series as they have done, that you will occasionally get sexual tension with a couple and the occasional relationship (Kristina/Joe, Artem/Kara) but I think it's a sad state of affairs where a man and a woman can't have their arms around each other without one or both being accused of being creepy, or worse, perverts.

I agree with this. There is definitely a double standard with this. There are a lot of ways things are worse for women, but people seem to forget some double standards work against men. Bruno, Craig and Darcey openly drool over the men and nothing is said. That being said, if Bruno and Craig weren't camp I don't think it would be accepted. It is played for laughs.

Don't mind him being 'touchy-feely'. Just wish he could dance. This year it's harder to spot the ones who are not in the first tranche of frontrunners but could improve with practise.
