How many £100 Windows with Bing tablets are on sale in the big retailers? Does John Lewis have them? Are they in Curry's? Do the likes of Tesco/Asda/Sainsburys have them? (I actually don't know, but suspect not).”
Tesco's were selling one but have sold out as so popular.
Linx 8 (great model) is available on Amazon UK for as low as £91 including delivery.
You could recently buy HP stream 7 for £49.99 from microsoft store. This has to be the cheapest new PC you could buy in UK.
Even the new raspberry pi 2 with windows 10 due to be released later this year could not beat this by price the time you add memory, wifi, cabkles to connect to screen etc.
Both tablets above include 1 year Office 365 + 1TB (yes 1 TB) cloud storage worth £59.99 free for first year.
One great feature with these windows tablets is if you install Teamviewer (or similar), you can take FULL remote control over internet. So give one to your dear mum (say), and you can manage it from other side of world if you like.
You can take PARTIAL remote control of most android tablets tio check settings, memory etc, You cannot see remote screen on the fly though which limits its use (you can get person at other end to take screen dumps, but that is a real hassle).
You have to take FULL control to use it as if you had it in you hands i.e you see remote screen etc. Only a few (mostly high end) androids have this capability. Even then, there is quite a noticeable time lag when being use like this i.e. tablets takes a couple of seconds or so to respond.
With even the cheapest 8.1 tablet, response is virtually instantaneous (less than 0.5 second lag even over a long distance internet connection. I control my wife's 8.1 tablet all the time when away.
To me it is a pity MS did not release 8.1 free 2 or 3 years back, and then they might have really changed the game. However, even now the new devices are so cheap, you can have one "as well as" android/ios rather than "instead of".
Personally, I will only use Windows 8.1+ tablets, but probably still use android on my phone from now on.
I may consider using w10 if ever put on a phone simply because I find tv catchup services works so much more reliably on windows compared with android (which often freezes at ad breaks making you have to start over and watch all the ads again on many apps).
