I love that woman

She's been out first twice now. Since she won, they deliberately give her total duds.

I love her too!

Isn't it three times? Johnny Ball, Tony and Greg.

She has got on the wrong side of the big bosses. Getting on the wrong side of the middle managers is one thing but the big bosses, even if you're right, is a no-go.

I really like Aliona and feel bad for her. Gregg is not a great dancer at all, had no chance of winning it at all but with the way things have gone, Weeks 4 or 5 would have been a reasonable time to go and it's surprising because usually entertainingly bad does quite well as what happened with Dave Myers last year.

But alas, they are gone.

Just what has she done to pee off the powers that be?

What did Aliona do to upset the bosses? She always had a sneery face but has corrected that recently so what was her misdemeanour.?

Whilst Aliona isn't one of my favourites out of the pros it does seem a bit unfair and strange the producers keep asking her back yet gave her duds the last three years in a row. Especially since after giving her three celebrities who on paper who should've been good - Rav, Matt and Harry.

It's the public that have failed to vote for her, not the show's producers. She's also won the show and come second. I think she's had a fair crack of the whip.

I imagine the thinking may have gone like this:

Johnny Ball - She's just won and before that she was runner up. She's due a dud.

Tony Jacklin - She dodged Johnny Ball by throwing herself down the stairs so he doesn't count. Anyway, she's not even supposed to be here, she should be grateful for anyone we give her.

Gregg Wallace - Tony Jacklin totally doesn't count because she was only called up as an emergency replacement last year. She's lucky we asked her back again - give her any old rubbish.

If (I say if) they have her back next year (I'd quite like that, I'm beginning to feel well disposed to her), she may get someone halfway decent. Or at least not someone who has "First Boot" written all over them.

It's the shows producers who pick her partners. She had decent partners two years running and came 1st and 2nd so the public must have voted those years.

Quite - and have failed to do so since. They haven't found her partnerships engaging., and some of that has to be down to how well the pro manages a celeb who is less than able for one reason or another. Not all natural born duffers get chucked out in week one, do they?

It is her own fault, she doesn't give the impression she wants to be there. All of the other pros are interacting on Twitter, posting pics from training, meeting up. She could have tried harder with Gregg. You would think she would want to show what she could do with a complete beginner. Who really knows how the celebs are going to turn out before the series starts. No one would have thought Chris Hollins would win. You might of bet on Thom being a winner before the series started, doesn't look likely at the moment. Still, easy money if you get knocked out first.

None of us know what happens backstage (despite James Jordans Twitter rants).

Brendan was very argumentative a while back, then he became "superpro" in series 9 and covered for Artem and Robin's injuries. Now Brendan is getting decent partners.

Aliona was "let go" and was a bit petulant about it online, but then Natalie got injured and she stepped in.
Aliona has also toured with Brendan - again stepping in when another dancer got injured.

This sort of stuff plays well with the Strictly "powers that be".
Iveta flew in to partner Johnny Ball, and took over Sids training when Ola was unavailable.
She was backup dancer of the subsequent tour, and then was offered a permanent role.

Jake said that Pasha helped him with the lifts in his Salsa, which again is something TPTB would like very much.

Aliona has been quite outspoken about the BBC past suggesting that they axed her and because they had to take her back due to Natalie's injury, they were punishing her by giving her the ones they expected to go first. I'm also remembering an interview where she said the BBC didn't care about the fans and decisions were made by faceless people but I can't find it anywhere. Quite irritating really. She also commented on the judges too.

I don't think the public really vote based on the professionals, they do it based on the celebs although any sign of a celeb/dancer strong friendship or romance can sway it especially if they're both young and good looking.

I know a lot of stuff has been said about Gregg's private life in recent months and I wondered if that has gone against him. He also has a personality you either take to or you don't, much like Julian Macdonald last year which could have gone against him but I thought he'd be the Dave Myers of this series, the entertainingly bad one who has a laugh with it but muddles through until at least Halloween before going home.

Interesting there isn't one of those now. Alison is the fun one but she's actually pretty good. Not good enough to win but still fairly good.

Iveta also landed, to all intents and purposes, a duffer for her first 'proper' partner - and just look at what a good fist she made of that. An utterly fantastic partnership with Mark Benton - she worked with what she had with huge inventiveness and good humour - and stayed in until week 10.

Mark had a fair few limitations but he was a better dancer than any of Aliona's partners in the last three years. I wouldn't call him last year's duffer. That was Dave.

However, I agree that Iveta did brilliantly well with Mark. Mark is a great actor and Iveta did a lot of focus on the character of the dances to get him through.

Who was to say which out of Dave & Mark would be the duffest duffer, though? Or any of the other duffers who fetch up from year to year?

OK, in the case of Dave & Mark, if you had to do so in advance, you'd pick Mark as the better of the two because of his performance skills. But who, for instance, would you have chosen as duffer in chief in John Sergeant's year? Quite possibly John himself.

My point is that the perceived dufferness of individual celebs means nothing until their pros get to deal with them and, of course, how the celebs are able to project themselves to the viewers.

I have absolutely no axe to grind with Aliona, but do not feel that she's been dealt with any less fairly than any other pro.

I do think, however, that she's not as good at being an SCD pro as some of her peers.

Natalie has had 3 less than able celebs on the trot - Audley, Michael and now Tim and it could be said hauled them further than thought possible.

Also the clue is in the title. If you can't dance you are most likely to go sooner than later unless you are a comedy act that appeals to the public. Not everyone can be taught to dance.
