Let's be honest, she's been shafted. I like her, I hope she gets a decent dancer next time if she's back.

I don't have any sympathy for Gregg. He has been quite unpleasant on Masterchef.

The producers knew about his mental issues and so did the judges. I am sure they would have agreed for him to be in the dance off and then unanimously out. Jennifer was worse in the dance-off.

She most certainly was not, moreover you have no knowledge that the judges agreed to vote Greg out because of his nerves..never heard anything so ridiculous

I don't agree with you about Jennifer I thought she was improved in the dance off and to me she comes across as a nice personality.

I agree that's he's been unpleasant on Masterchef, I stopped watching because of him, I myself think it was a mistake to cast Gregg, but the BBC wanted to publicise Masterchef....still what kind of publicity is it when one of the presenters/ judges is shown to be so unpopular......and this is the sort of publicity he's given them.

I don't feel any sympathy at all either - nobody forced him to take part in a show where he knew he'd have to perform live in front of millions on tv....I'm just glad that Aliona is now free and look forward to seeing her in the pro dances. I hope if she's back next year she's given a decent partner.

I see the Mirror is at it's work again.

Making up a headline quote that is inferred to have been said by Aliona.

Using the 'a source said' as if it actually meant anything other than 'you can skip the next bit'.

Using retweeting of tweets of support as if Aliona is using them to state some opinion made up by the Mirror, rather than just saying thank you.

And sadly, other newspapers taking a lead from the Mirror and printing the same drivel.

I'll reserve judgement until I see him say it during the show and what context it was said.

A wise decision.

I would love to know who the mischievous 'insider source' is and why they never find out good or moving details but always moments or words that can be force-interpreted into spite.

Worth a small chunk of the license fee to uncover and turf out that individual on the staff

They have not quoted Aliona and have also accused her of ageism. Couldn't she have them for that?

It's unlikely she'd call Tony an "old pudding" too considering their friendship.

Does p[oor Aliona have to continue to get all this flak??

Out of her 6 partners on the show - 4 have been duffers, one was a potential winner from the off (Harry) and the the other (Matt Baker) a late replacement for someone who dropped out. Of her duffers - only one has been in the young hottie category (Rav), and he was out 2nd because he wasn't much good!

You could see that NONE of the female pros wanted to partner Gregg, so after understandably getting Tony last year as she was brought in late, it was unfair to give her another duffer - especially one with Gregg's reputation as a womaniser, and lack of popularity with viewers ( I know that none of my friends who watch masterchef can stand Shrek and his constant impressions of the speaking clock whilst spouting nonsense over the dishes he's given to taste!

IF she is back next year - and lets face it - we know that NONE of the pros are guaranteed a new contract for 2015 at this stage, I don't think she expects another winner - just someone who will stay in for a few weeks - be it on ability or popularity or possibly even both!

It wouldn't surprise me if the 'source' was as simple as the 'journalist' writing out what he needed the source to say and then get someone in the same office to read it out to him.

I don't think Rav qualifies as a duffer. His main problem seemed to be lack of popularity.

Aliona also had hopes for Johnny Ball. She said dancing came naturally to him. He was fit enough for her to increase his training from 5 hours a day to 8 hours a day, and she said he had a great personality which she planned to exploit. The problem - like Rav - was lack of popularity to begin with, and if they both could have stayed in a few weeks, their dancing might have impressed. Rav did do a good Rumba in only his second ever dance.

I can see that Aliona's not had a good run, but the problem generally is that a lot of the female pros haven't had great runs on the whole, and good male dancers have been thin on the ground in the last two series (and the pros who got them - Flavia, Anya have up and left/been fired so they can't soak up the "due a duffer" dues).

Natalie - has had two good'uns and two middlers, was due a duffer and got one (albeit a genial one)
Ola - is the anti-Aliona : has almost nothing *but* middling celebs except for one good'un (Ashley) and one duffer (Paul Daniels). Also is at the centre of controversy at the moment where the BBC have to not be too mean.
Joanne - is new, so arguably deserves somebody with potential - didn't get one
Karen - got someone who seemed like he might be good but wasn't (and coasted on the Westlife fanbase) and then the designated comedy contestant
Janette - was stuck with JULIEN MACDONALD
Kristina - had one good'un (albeit an older one), and a ragtag bunch of comedy contestants and people who seemed like they might be good and weren't because they were over-muscled or were too tall for her.

Aliona has a case to be given somebody good but...so did almost everybody else this series on the female side.
