As far as her teaching and choreography skills are concerned the jury is out for me at the moment (she has only done 2 dances) although I have been a bit disappointed. On a personal level she seems to be really nice and on a professional level a great dancer.

I knew before the series started that those posters who have a big personal dislike of Kevin would also take a huge personal dislike of Joanne. Sometimes I feel that DS is so predictable, I could write some of the posts in advance of the series.”

I'm loving Joanne. Judging her by her choreography for Scott is like judging Janette by her choreography for Julien - in other words very short-sighted.

She seems so natural and supportive towards her partner and excellent in the pro dances.

A great addition to the Strictly family. Still miss Anja though.

oh poor Scott - I think his samba is going to be even more of a car crash than his cha cha

why did Ian tell him that his botafogos were looking good when they werent - what help is that to him?

I am no expert but even I know what a basic botafogo looks like and it wasnt anything like what Scott was doing!

You can't really judge someone on their choreography for a duffer.

This is so true, Janette wasn't given much slack last year, but look what she had to work with. This year we get to see what she is really capable of.

Joanne is a fantastic dancer, but Scott is diabolical - What is she supposed to do? - From what I have seen she is trying her best with him, but the fact that he is useless is more the problem.

OH I don't know, Kristina choreographed for John Sargeant not only showcasing what he could do, but also generally making herself popular.

As Sara says, although some things are imposed by the producers, I really do feel it is all me me me at the moment, and it bares repeating again , Joanne is a woman in her 30s and Scott is 40.

I realise Scott is a dreadful dancer but I don't even think Joanne is looking for things he can do, but rather choreographing to show off what she herself can do.

Other pros have their faults , Ola her choreography by numbers, Brendan pushes his celebs to hard, but both of them have got celebs further in the competition than they really should have got, so far Joanne does not seem to be helping Scott but rather making him do things he does not want and failing to teach even basic sts as long as she can get to show off.

I think you can to a certain degree

Kristina managed to choreograph a beautiful waltz for John Sargeant and he hadnt danced

Ola won with Chris Hollins who again hadnt danced a step in his life

Lilia worked wonders with Darren Gough

I agree, she is a brilliant dancer but is coming over as really annoying
I think she only got a spot as a professional because of Kevin but really needs to buck her ideas up.

I havn't decided yet about Joanne. She seems nice enough but maybe like Janette it will take a while to get used to her and her style. I hadn't realised she was 30 though. So far she has choreographed very 'cutesy' routines, whether by instinct (her natural style) or she feels that suitable for Scott I'm not sure. I imagine he is difficult to find a suitable style for though, he does come over a bit 'boyish' for a 40 year old so maybe she is going with that. .

yes but chris and darren had the ability to pick up the steps - Scott is one of those that no matter hard you try it doesnt go in we have had a couple over the years like Scott it also doesnt help with the music and themes they are GIVEN (not picked) if joanne got the chance to do a waltz straight with correct music for instance (like tim) it would have been better for scott - shame the way the lesser abled celebs are treated

Goodness, both Chris and Darren had lots of natural ability. They can't be put in the same box, or anywhere near Scott's box. Darren did a professional standard waltz according to Lilia ,no easy steps there.

I would have assumed that she is just a lousy teacher/choreographer but I am possibly unfair because as has been posted so many times on here it does seem the pro has less and less control or indeed zilch control over what they actually do so I will cut her a bit of slack here. They have been put in the box if you like as comedy couple whether they like it or not by the producers it seems.

I LOVE Scott as a DJ and find his show utterly hilarious. I was so excited when I heard he was going on SCD.

However, having seen him dance twice now, I'm feeling very uncomfortable about it. Don't get me wrong, I still like him, but I feel that he's unaware that he is going to end up being the "comedy." The fact his movie dance is the Little Mermaid makes me think he'll be dressed as a giant crab...

His first dance was dreadful and I had to watch his second dance through my hands. I feel very sorry for him as I think he is trying but just doesn't have rhythm or the natural ability.

Some people will always have two left feet no matter how many hours of training they put in - Scott looks as though he falls into that category. His facial expressions don't do him any favours either. He seems like a decent person and one wants to warm to him (unlike Greg who just gave me the creeps from the moment he started to beam that manic smile - thank God he has gone) but I can't readily see any other pro being any better with him than Joanne. I don't think he would appreciate being muff-bombed by Kristina or Ola. Possibly Iveta might be a better match for him but maybe he doesn't want to go down the comedy route (yet).

There are only really two main dance bodies and joanne has danced at highest levels in both although there are different catergories within the bodies themselves.

Dont think this was widely seen - a short from Channel 4 about Fathers and Daughters
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpI3...qfWye-GMyyUV1Q gives a small insight into her - think she is worth keeping for another year”

Looking at a photo on that clip. Struck by how much Kevin looks like their Dad did when he was younger.

Sadly I think he might stick around, he has been getting celebrities and listeners to vote for him. The radio job gives him that clout!

If his routine is comedic it might save him too. But he really does have two left feet.

Of won't endear him to the serious watchers but maybe they've decided its the only option

Agree. I think his samba will be almost as bad as AW's.

AW stands for Ann Widdecombe by the way!

I found it a bit 'off' the way he was name dropping on ITT - with Zoes excited encouragement. It probably (hopefully) wont make any difference in the end though. he seems nice enough just not a dancer!

Strictly is about showcasing what a pro can achieve with a celeb by showcasing the celeb - not using the celeb so the pro can show off.

Take the tango for example. Joanne should have done many many basic tango figures and not shown off by doing her signature back bending move (and also advertising it beforehand). Actually to be honest I think she was lucky that Scott didn't drop her with this move because he struggled with it.

And with the CCC Scott had either failed to take in the basics of the CCC like lock steps or foot pressure to enable hip action or Joanne hadn't even taught him them or just done a CCC from the waist up and ignored what was going on with the feet.

And also she is not a girl (teen girly giggled) but a woman - and should act like it.

I thought KFG was one of the most irritating OTT pros last year but I have to say he is positively normal compared with his sister.

I was looking forward to Joanne coming on the show with her ballroom background - but quite frankly she has been a big disappointment to me so far (even in the pro dances) and certainly completely out of her depth choreography wise. I can only presume that her partner did all the choreography in her professional dances.”

Thank You. You saved for me for writing a long paragraph....I TOTALLY agree with everything you said .

Joanna might be the proof that having all the credentials in Ballroom/Latin doesnt necessarily means that you can be a great choreographer or teacher. Im really disappointed with her choreography . Sure she hasnt a lot to work with BUT she could at least TRY to make Scott look better ;

But I do think that she deserves another chance to prove herself next year so Im not writing her off YET .

I feel a bit sorry for Scott, to be honest. He's obviously not comfortable at being shoehorned into the comedy contestant role.

Seems like these days if you're not good then you have to be funny - whether you want to or not!

I did feel a bit sorry for Scott being critised for his tango face when Joanne obviously told him to pull it as she was pulling the same face.

Yes Kev is like his dad and has his personality too - he runs dance comps himself and is always great on the mic - remember seeing Keith and judy back in the day when they competed and their dems were always full fun to watch
