I'm certainly dreading it. I personally can't stand the character. Definitely one of my least favourites and most disliked characters. I can't take him seriously as a villain either.

I thought his last stint in 2009 was prettty awful and he was very panto. I hope his return doesn't mean we'll be seeing yet again another repetitive strategy on "killing Dot" because quite frankly, I just find it pretty tedious and dull.

I'm not sure. I'll wait and see how it goes. I bet he turns up and says "Ello Ma" which will be a bit cringeworthy. When he does turn up I bet Dot will find out Charlie isn't a copper!

I find him very panto & mediocre.

I'm not sure what else they can do with him, it's pretty much the same stuff, tries to kill his 'Ma' or he tempts to rob her of money, I feel like they only bring him out when they've got nothing for June Brown to do.

I'm happy to tolerate Nick because it means airtime for Dot and Charlie.

He left a very bad impression on his last stint. His panto kidnapping at the cafe and the same old "kill Dot Branning" saga left a bad taste in new viewers mind.

The "Nasty" Nick Cotton most know is a remorseless, killer with a frequent drug problem (very gritty portrayal of it at the time.)

Fans must remember this character is Eastenders original when used right is extremely Nasty!

Reg Cox
Eddie Royle
Ashley Cotton

Killer Cotton!

Killer Cotton. That is why I believe he is going to go down for Lucy murder. He didn't kill her but Dot / Ian / Sharon / Phil will decide he goes down due to his previous. Especially Reg Cox. Someone else (probably Peter) had an altercation with her but doesn't realise it was the killer blow. Ben was in vicinity so Phil will want him kept out.

The character ran its course about 20 years ago.

I hated his last two appearances (or stints) and was dreading it when we first heard rumours he may come back.

But I've got to say I've been really enjoying the Dot/Charlie/Yvonne stuff and additionally Ronnie now having a Cotton baby. If he's written well it'll be great.

Fingers crossed it's not more 2009 stuff.

It could be great as long as Dot hides the chairs.

I can't see him doing anything to Dot this time. Why? She has no money.
How is Charlie going to explain the death, funeral etc?
Dot might collapse and die from shock if Nick appears at her door.

It seems to a characteristic of many of the long term soap actors.

Too many oldies have returned.
One or two returns have been bad, ie Sonia and Sharon. David was good though.

I'm indifferent really. Never especially liked him, never totally loathed him. It sounds like they might be going somewhere interesting with him this time, I guess we'll see.

If we have another dull "lets kill Dot" story then no, I don't want to see him return. However if there is something else behind his return then I'm looking forward to it.

I know it's "offensive" to think this way on DS but June Brown is 87, nearly 88 and as such I really believe this could be the last big "Nick and Dot" story, which is why it has to be really good.

Last appearance was bog awful, but if you look at the reasons for the comeback, and the 30th anniversary coming up, I'm confident this return will be very satisfying for long term viewers who know the importance of the character to the shows legacy.

his acting won't be enjoyable, but the storyline hopefully will be.

I've never really taken to his character so have my doubts but am prepared to wait and see how things play out. Have enjoyed the Dot/Charlie relationship so could be good to see what happens to that when the fact that Nick isn't dead is revealed.

Also, does anyone know what Charlie is doing for money these days?? Is he still meant to be working at that old people's home?

Still 10x better than some other ones on the show... Danny Boy Hatchard for example!

Nick has always been a bit of a panto villian, but for some reason, i kinda feel it works, much more than other panto villians i have seen in soaps.

He is dreadful..not looking forward to him coming back at all...at the start when he was just a young man it wasn't to bad but each time it's more pantomine 'acting' ...have no idea why the producer is fetching him back yet again
