Here's a summary of Sunday Night at the Palladium ratings so far

I can see why ITV have recommissioned a second series. It's done okay for them apart from the two blips of the 2nd and 4th episodes.

The X Factor should be up on last night's show but I think it will be down week-on-week as last week was probably boosted by airing across the 9pm slot which resulted in a Downton crossover.

Ah right that's why it jumped back up! As we head into late October and there is more jeopardy in the show perhaps it can improve on it Sunday nights broadcasts. Saturday figure looks low compared to "Strictly Come Dancing" this week at around 7.6 million.

It seems that the clash barely hurt The X Factor last week whereas it really dragged Strictly back. I have no idea why they moved it back to 8pm and next week is going to be the same. David Bergg aka the Prince of Daftness strikes again.

It will be interesting to see the +1 figure, particularly for the final quarter, as it was quite a surprising result tonight.

"The X Factor" now being unaffected by a longer clash and earlier start last week but "Strictly Come Dancing" dented by it and gains ground this week. But was there lots of drama in the "Strictly Come Dancing Results" tonight? Mmm not really, they need a double eviction one week just to keep the contestants on their toes and the audience ahead of the "The X Factor" live results. "Doctor Who" doesn't seem to troubling a weak "X Factor" much either, would have been intriguing to see how the final series of "Merlin" would have faired against it in 2014.

Well I no Our Girl hasn't rated amazingly, but I have to say I really enjoyed it. Especially this last episode which was pretty sad. Hope there will be a second series which the BBC will hopfully not stick against DA again.

I never even said that and actually was quite positive about IAC, being a show that has outlived all its contemporaries, but eventually it will go, but who knows as the ratings are very healthy? It could really storm the ratings again and at least it has stayed true to its format, same as SCD, and ITV have never felt the need to run it for weeks on end.
If the BBC churn out some trash show that doesn't rate, I'll criticise it, same as ITV or Channel 4,.

Am sorry but not every show needs over the top drama crap like the Xfactor. This is one reason why I think Stricly is beating the Xfactor and thats because it doesn't focus on drama it focuse on good old family fun entertainment. If you want over the top drama then stick to the Xfactor.

Strictly has had two surprise celebrities in the bottom two in the last two weeks but the fact it's recorded does take away some of the jeopardy.

Doctor Who, while low in the overnights, still performs much better than any of ITV's Strictly fare. I'm intrigued to see how Atlantis does in comparison; could it do better than Who or will The X Factor benefit from the switch in shows?

Would be more exciting "live" I just don't get the drama of the Sunday show, it's really laboured. There's a lot of tightning of the format "Strictly Come Dancing" could do to catapult it way above "The X Factor" its not crisp enough sometimes and they could loose a few minutes introducing the judges, those dances seem like hours not seconds!!

I don't think it being recorded has anything to do with it, I think it's the dance off, we know the judges will save any "good" ones (although I actually thought Mark was poor) so there's no point caring if they're there. They really could do with getting rid of it again, but they've got the structure of the results shows spot on now (despite them messing around with the recap order for some reason) that it would be a shame to mess with it, even if it would increase the tension.

Yeah I mean The X factor and EastEnders cover that ground.

I think the results need to return to being "live" the editing is a bit dodgy at times and over rehearsed sections. I say return it to Saturdays.

Its been ok and has rated better against DA than most things that have been tried so far but cant see a second series - it was sort of wrapped up wasnt it.

I'm glad Palladium has been recommissioned. Tonight's episode was very good lots of variety. But I think they could expand it more and bring some vintage acts on to the stage (additionally to what they already do). Such as some 80's musician, 90's bands etc. Really strengthen the variety aspect.

If the BBC are considering giving Tumble another go (rumour has it) then its a no brainer to bring back Palladium with over 4m viewers.

It should theoretically do better in the New Year (Jan/Feb) when there are more viewers regularly tuning into watching TV and away from 2014's ITV ratings crisis.

I suspect its not costing them much anyway.

8pm Stars In Their Eyes
9pm Mr Selfridge/new drama

Though fit it in where? People would just switch to The X Factor and return for the final result which would take up all of a minute. Plus the main show would probably have to start earlier to fit everything in before Match of The Day at half past ten while Sunday loses that boost which Strictly offers to the schedule.

Starting the Strictly results show in the middle of X Factor does sound like an excellent idea, if they want to lose a good 2-3 million viewers. A lot of changes suggested on here are just change for change's sake and wouldn't actually benefit the show. Being "live" would just decrease the ratings, not increase quality.

It the BBC recommision Tumble they will be a laughing stock.

I feel the same it seems there is always someone who wants to mess with the schedule for almost every program. SCD results have been fine exactly as they are for many years and we know they cant do them live with the present judges anyway.

The BBC are resting Tumble indefinitely. Unfortunately, some celebrities in the first series got some bad injuries and the BBC has decided that safety should come first, therefore the show will be rested from the schedules to prevent any further injuries.

Yeah I was thinking that "The X Factor" will run "Strictly Come Dancing" pretty close tonight purely because it sometimes lacks drama, but I guess if the audience are happy with it as it is, there is no reason to move it, but its a shame they can't do it live on Sundays too. The results are the key part of the programme and its like watching a polite cricket match.

As does the fact that they're in the bottom two with a noticeably weaker couple.


I can't imagine it being live would help it much at this point. At this stage of the competition the dance off is far too one sided to really add any kind of jeopardy. Maybe as things progress and stronger couples end up in the dance off together it becomes more valuable to have it live. Having said that I do wonder how many people watching at home care or are even aware that the results show isn't live.

I will say that I think in terms of formatting the results show is one area where The X Factor is miles ahead of Strictly (and just about any other show in the market) and it shows in the numbers. The format just lends itself so beautifully to an easily dramatic results show. I don't think there's anyway Strictly can hope to match that. The judge dynamic just isn't the same when it comes to voting in the dance off and there's never really an overt sense that those votes are being manipulated in the name of compelling television. Last week for example there was never really any sense that the result would be anything other than the judges saving Simon. If that were The X Factor it feels like it could just as easily have gone completely the other way.
