They were all turned over to Antiques Roadshow.

What would potentially replace "The X Factor" on ITV though. And what other show would bring them 7.9 million overnight for the advertising. I suppose they have a year to work this one out from now. But they need a new format to come along.

Has to be said though with soaps and XF in trouble its starting to expose their reliance on a few big hitters. Ant and Dec to the rescue if only for a few weeks?”

Yeah until the 1st rating comes in and for some unknown reason IAC is down 2m YOY.

If it was any other show getting 8m on Sunday, it'd be seen as good. It's bad in terms of X Factor as it has been higher. ITV will take that as they have nothing else that can run from August to December and get the young viewers.

Dancing On Ice is needing a replacement and now The X Factor will soon.

I fear they will just stick with TXF even if it drops to 6m, because it has good demos.

By 2016 if TXF is rating around 6m, I would push it forward to 7pm and/if they have something that will rate well at 8pm. Can't see the contract being renewed in 2016.

It never think it bodes well for BBC one when they don't get given enough competition. They constantly produce better under a challenge and are more likely to take shows off that are mediocre.

I dunno how these figures are holding up against "The Voice" performance in January. The gap must have narrowed there too, although I'd say "The X Factor" is a much better produced show.

I can't decide if this rating is good or bad.

Ian can you post on here more often? You are hilarious! ”

Cheers. It's the best thread on DS.

What could replace X Factor though? The only new entertainment show that has launched anywhere near X Factor levels recently is The Voice, and thats widely considered to be a failure.

It wouldn't surprise me to see a revival of Pop Idol.

Exactly, that hardly has set the world alight unfortunately, but it figures are gonna end up closer to "The X Factor" although I think "The X Factor" consolidated much better.

Not sure id be keen to see "Strictly Come Dancing" without any competition from ITV though. Its become more honed and tighter because its had to chase "The X Factor".

We were driving from Oxfordshire to Devon yesterday afternoon and my wife watched the whole of the Andy Murray tennis final on Sky Go on her tablet.

If we were a BARB household would that be reported?

Fingers and toes crossed BGT doesn't decline heavily too.

XF brand is tainted for a segment of audience. Timeout with another singing contest like Pop Stars the Rivals coming in for a year might just reignite interest. They could add a reality element with cameras following contestants shown on ITVbe.

Past talent shows are best left in the past. They will ultimately disappoint, just as this years X Factor has.

They have Rising Star on early next year, I'm not sure if ITV are making a big deal of it but they should try and it could become the eventual X Factor replacement.

Rising Star has already been cancelled I believe.

Goos for Strictly. Not the best for Xfactor.

The X Factor has been on for about 10 years now hasn't it?
Maybe people just grow out of it.
Potential new younger viewers possibly see Simon and Louis on it and wonder why these old-timers are judging pop music and see them as not 'relevant' to them?

I bet over at ITV towers they're regretting that now, because it was a big hope. It might have flopped, but could equally have taken viewers imaginations as it did in Israel- It would have been better as a Summer series next year though in the YFSF slot to give it a bit of breathing room rather than launching next to the Voice which was the plan

Wow. X Factor down over 1.2M year-on-year for the Sunday show. Looks like the second wind that was forecast isn't going to be happening. For me it would take nothing less than a miracle to turn things around now, the public is bored with it and understandably so.

Very good rating for Guy Martin on C4.

Down 0.07m week-on-week is hardly a "terrible rate" considering what it was doing for the first couple of weeks. Though obviously there's still a problem and it probably isn't strong enough to not have its Christmas Day status at least questioned.

Not sure. Usually it dips on Halloween and Bonfire Weekend because the casual viewers find better things to do for once, but how many casual viewers does X Factor have left now?

Britain's Got Talent could move into Autumn? They could run that from first Saturday of September to last Saturday of November. Then have I'm a Celebrity take centre stage on from the last Sunday of November until last Sunday before Christmas.

Maybe have BGT running 8pm-9:30pm on Saturdays, then for the live shows, 8-9pm on Sundays -- have the two acts perform again for the judges to reach the final to fill the show out. Then IAC could run 8:30-10pm on Saturday and Sunday after BGT finishes.

Then to replace BGT develop a new programme and extend Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Would Ant and Dec agree to that Q4 schedule? Looks kind of demanding to me. And they are essential to IAC and important to BGT.

X-Factor is too much part of "culture" it is "the man", younger people looking to "rebel" and "stick it to the man"

Im not sure kids rebel anymore, but between baking and sewing, they dont have time for that modern pop music

I'd say they are more important to BGT than IAC. They could easily get a duo like Mel & Sue to replace them.

Giving Ant and Dec roughly 22 hours to do the 24-hour journey to Australia, recover from the jetlag, and prepare, sounds great

EDIT: Oh you want to replace them on one. It'd surely be BGT, IAC is far more reliant on them. Not sure how that'd work given that Mel and Sue are busy filming/promoting GBBO from spring to mid-Ocobter.

If they're that confident that they can find a replacement programme to go in BGT's slot - which is a bigger shoe to fill than XF's slot, in terms of ratings - then they might as well just put said new show it in XF's slot and leave BGT where it is.
