So pretty much on a par, factoring in the different slots - one over Christmas, one before Christmas - by noting the similar shares. It's a battle of the pygmies really, and on this evidence, Vicious doesn't appear to have longer legs.

Well, it's been a ghastly couple of days for Five (particularly Friday, repeats not rating I'm sure they can handle) so they'll be hoping for some respite certainly.

It's a fair lineup of films but the early afternoon ones are wheeled out every year so less than inspired choices for a spooky themed block although presumably they only have the rights to so many that would be suitable for daytime. Cabin in the Woods should rate well at 9pm. although I thought that about Scream 4 this time last year and it didn't. Scary movies can go either way but I think this one is strong enough to find a good audience.

This time next week a bit of event TV in the schedule as well which could do anything from 0.5M to 2M, so that's something to look forward to ratings wise.

I note from their website countdown that the MTV Europe Music Awards actually start at 20:00 next Sunday in Glasgow. Would it be with an hour's tape delay, in case of mishaps? I think a similar thing is done with the BRITs.

Yeah. Same hour delay on MTV although they do have a Red Carpet programme at 20:00 to buildup to the main event.

Mixed reaction to tonight's X Factor on social media: Cheryl Cole and #miming are trending () but John Legend has been the top trend for some time, with #AllOfMe also prominent. Good booking for the show.

Yes I wish they were too but maybe Im part of the problem. I watched the first two and didn't think they were all that great so kind of got out of the habit of watching-but then have caught up this weekend basically because you can with iplayer (whereas I might have stuck with it in the past).
Have to say though Im glad I did-some very clever stuff and some fantastic visuals as ever. Mummy on the Orient Express(where Iv got to) is perfect modern Who. And yet strangely Im not sure Iv actually warmed to Capaldi yet-Clara makes up for it though-she is rather stunning and those eyes are quite mesmerising

I do wonder if Channel 5 and/or MTV might buy some ad time for the EMA's during The X Factor next weekend.

I did consider that possibility. Expensive though. Trust the EPG to do its job in situations such as these, I think. If it doesn't leap off the page at X Factor viewers when they go to pull it up, then blowing money on an easily missed advert is definitely a waste.

I did wonder this when I heard him talk about the show on Radio 2, then he started talking about groups of ITV celebs, and I lost interest in the show.

Fox have unceremoniously cancelled reality show Utopia, they will air Master chef Junior rpts instead after the series finale (unknown at the time) pulled a 0.5 on Friday.

A decent overnight for "Doctor Who". Some great performances but too dark in tone for a family audience I would dare to suggest.

Shades of the Colin Baker era darkness overshadowed this story, his first series so gruesome the BBC had the series rested for eighteen months to reassess its content, Moffat needs to take note that its not just " Doctor Who" fans he needs to keep on side in order to keep the show on air.

The series has an AI average of over 80, it must be doing something right

Yeah quite! I'll look forward to Gomez in action next week but hope the stories improve next week and next season. Capaldi is brilliant as the Doctor but is let down by bad stories this season I would say overall. This was the first season I have switched off some of the stories despite the wonderful cast and direction.

'Hidden away' against SCD isn't necessarily a bad thing. It seems to be getting fairly positive reviews so it's the perfect opportunity to build a modest following, sort out any format or general issues and come back next year in a much nicer slot where it can establish itself. Getting a new programme on air without it taking too much of a battering on social media is half of the battle these days, and they seem to be doing OK with this format.

More expensive than Fox would like people to believe as well.
