It gives you time to digest the story. Its also good for tea breaks.

I can imagine him being a bit of a joker - I'd be surprised if he's a dull camp mate.

Can't say I've ever heard of him.

I doubt Michelle Keegan is going in. AFAIK the filming of Ordinary Lies is still taking place.

He will be very good TV, a self styled 'Jack the lad' in the style of Gazza in his heydey. Will be like Marmite for the viewers which is what gets the viewers and the tabloids interested.

These things often take a few years to bed in and it was a big transition upwards to make so I definitely think it's worth C5 giving it another go next year. It was nice to see C5 air a kind of show they don't often air and take a bit of a punt and they should be commended for that. They weren't really rewarded last night but hopefully they won't give up at the first hurdle and will continue, as stuff like this is all part of their branch out into entertainment, and if they keep trying then at some point something will stick for them (alongside BB/CBB) and they'll reap the rewards of it.”

The VMA's is a bigger draw for Channel5 next September, as that is the event that has hogged the headlines in the last few years (Miley Cyrus twerking being just one example) MTV have also recently announced a new series of The Osbournes, which was a massive ratings sucess for them in the early 00s, and surely will do some business for C5 as a repeat.

last nights EMA's were a shocker, with barely any of the award winners turning up, and the performers while popular are the kind (like Ed Sheeran) who you can see on XFactor etc regularly anyway.

MTV only have themselves to blame for the apathy about the awards though IMO, years ago acts and their management would have wanted to keep MTV on side, as getting their videos played was crucial to sucess, now MTV doesn't even play music! so I can see why acts weren't in a hurry to head to a chilly Glasgow when the show only gets mediocre ratings.

A few weeks back I thought Dapper Laughs would be axed due to bad ratings. Then it all kicked off!

http://www.itv.com/news/update/2014-...r-laughs-show/

ITV will not continue Dapper Laughs show

ITV has decided not to consider comedian Dapper Laughs' show for a second series, following a series of complaints.

The broadcaster has received 29 complaints from the public since first airing and an online petition to stop a second series being commissioned has garnered over 50,000 signatories.

The petition accuses comedian Daniel O'Reilly, whose alter ego is Dapper Laughs, of a "misogynistic" attitude towards women that perpetuates "everyday sexism".

An ITV spokesman said:
"We have given careful thought to the recent criticism of the character Dapper Laughs, which has focused on his activities outside of the ITV2 programme, whose content was carefully considered and complied. We have taken the decision that we will not be considering this show for a second series."

Viewers have complained about the Kindle sponsorship stings taking them out of the drama.

I'm sure they could replace those with something more subtle next series.

Or an advert addiction !!!

Seriously cannot understand anybody putting up with the level of adverts which are now excessive, when you can record or catch up. Sounds like torture to me.

Easy decision for ITV to cancel Dapper Laughs. Twenty-nine complaints - almost one per viewer

EDIT: They're currently poring over the show on Channel 4 News.

First world problems. Watching 12 mins of commercials per broadcast hour = "torture."

And they are only torture here because we have the luxury of the BBC to compare against.

I bet if someone from America watched our commercial tv channels, they'd wonder why there were so few adverts!

At this time of year the adverts are quite ok to watch anyway, as it's all the major retailers with their lavish campaigns. Try watching Downton Abbey on Christmas Day when it is the same 10 loud brash adverts in every break promoting that their sale Doors open 9am Boxing Day!

Very good!

The Dapper Laughs ratings were really bad. Would have been a miracle for him to get a second series.

Did you see The Missing ratings updates Neil? Close to 7.5m for episode 2.

The only thing I watch live on ITV is the reality shows now; everything else is on Catch Up. Mind you, it could be worse - American shows are ridiculous for ad volume.

Yes, it's looking good I can't wait for tomorrow's episode and it's a rare drama that has that effect on me.

Really Fudd ? That surprises me. By Catch Up do you mean on demand i.e. including unskippable ads? I admit to liking the fact that I know my viewing is counting when I do that, as they can see precisely how many are watching.

I don't get all the fuss about ads though, really. I guess dramas flow better without but with films they air fewer and with all other genres I don't really see a problem. We are just spoiled in this day and age of technology and so on, I think. I like watching my favourite shows as they go out and I can't see that approach changing for the sake of saving 12 minutes, time which needn't be lost anyway.

I seem to recall Rebecca Adlington was ruled out of pretty much every trial last year for medical reasons.

Haven't been this intrigued by a drama since Happy Valley and Line Of Duty earlier this year.

Quite the opposite for me... it was nice seeing the Christmas ads I'd heard so much about like the Coke and John Lewis ones.

With catch up through Sky I find I watch a fair bit of Channel 5. I love watching Wentworth, Gotham and Under The Dome this way especially.
