It was nice to see C5 air a kind of show they don't often air and take a bit of a punt and they should be commended for that. They weren't really rewarded last night but hopefully they won't give up at the first hurdle and will continue, as stuff like this is all part of their branch out into entertainment, and if they keep trying then at some point something will stick for them (alongside BB/CBB) and they'll reap the rewards of it.”
The VMA's is a bigger draw for Channel5 next September, as that is the event that has hogged the headlines in the last few years (Miley Cyrus twerking being just one example) MTV have also recently announced a new series of The Osbournes, which was a massive ratings sucess for them in the early 00s, and surely will do some business for C5 as a repeat.
last nights EMA's were a shocker, with barely any of the award winners turning up, and the performers while popular are the kind (like Ed Sheeran) who you can see on XFactor etc regularly anyway.
MTV only have themselves to blame for the apathy about the awards though IMO, years ago acts and their management would have wanted to keep MTV on side, as getting their videos played was crucial to sucess, now MTV doesn't even play music! so I can see why acts weren't in a hurry to head to a chilly Glasgow when the show only gets mediocre ratings.
