Spot on - here were the timings:

BBC One Sun 02/11/2014 18:17:58 (51 mins) COUNTRYFILE
BBC One Sun 02/11/2014 19:08:51 (3 mins) WEATHER FOR THE WEEK AHEAD.
BBC One Sun 02/11/2014 19:12:21 (5 mins) COUNTRYFILE
BBC One Sun 02/11/2014 19:19:17 (40 mins) STRICTLY COME DANCING: THE RESULTS

Previous airings, as you say, must have been under 3 minutes long.

The 8.66m figure for the final five minutes looks very impressive in the Top 5 list on the BARB homepage.

I think IAC is going to have massive ratings on the first night again this year

Crafty BBC! "And now it's time for the non-Countryfile forecast."

Be fair, everyone said that about Jennie Bond.

War Horse is interesting opposition though and not to be underestimated. ITV not going to have it all their own way on Sunday, IAC will be tested.

Channel 5 will be better off sticking a film on then the EMAs.
What, like they do already on about 48 Sundays of the year? It was nice to see them do something different, even if it didn't quite work out on this occasion.

Advanced Television claims the EMAs reached 2.3 million viewers across the two hours - including MTV.

Excellent film but haven't a lot of folks already seen it. I can't see folks who want to watch IAC series missing launch show for War Horse. So many folks now have access to films anyway outside of mainstream tv.

It appears as though ITV haven't commissioned a second series of Grantchester as of yet though the production team and James Norton have both confirmed that they're keen.

War Horse is no competition whatsoever. It will be sub 5m, and IAC will be comfortably 10m +

Well, that's just bizarre . The weather has always been there and it's part of the show. Pretty sure it runs over 3 minutes most weeks too...

War Horse has been out for a long time, lots of people have already vseen it and It didn't do that well at the box office. But it's also a well known title, has Cumberbatch and Hiddleston and is being shown around World War I celebrations. It has things for and against going for it.

I think that's roughly how the ratings will be though.

I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here opening overnight ratings
Series 1 (2002): 6.4m (33%)
Series 2 (2003): 10.0m (46%)
Series 3 (2004): 10.1m (n/a%)
Series 4 (2004): 9.0m (35%)
Series 5 (2005): 9.5m (38%)
Series 6 (2006): 8.9m (38%)
Series 7 (2007): 8.7m (38%)
Series 8 (2008): 8.9m (35%)
Series 9 (2009): 9.8m (36%)
Series 10 (2010): 11.2m (38%)
Series 11 (2011): 11.8m (44%) inc +1
Series 12 (2012): 10.6m (42%) inc +1
Series 13 (2013): 11.9m (47%) inc +1

I'm a Celebrity's opposition last year was 2.7m. War Horse is guaranteed to rate higher than that: it has a one hour head start and is bound to bring in an older demographic. I'd say around 4 million for War Horse.

With that in mind, I think we're looking at around 10.5m on Sunday for I'm a Celebrity. Last year's series was the most watched ever, and it would take the perfect storm to top that.

Although, as last year demonstrated, this is one show where predictions are utterly pointless.

Thats about what I feel too. Nobody would suggest that War Horse is going to outrate IAC but it should do considerably better than last years offering.

He's a cheeky chappy footballer whose career was cut short with bad knees. Comes across as a nice guy. More importantly for the show he's a bit of a character.

Although thats never the point with IAC is it?

He did the voice overs for Sky's Pineapple/Louis Spence comedy docs and he was surprisingly very funny.

Thanks Bushmills.

I think there's another week of Intruders at 9pm. Pray for BBC2! Do you know how Moving On did in daytime on BBC1?
