If you divide the second percentage figure (the TVR, the % of all people regardless of whether they were watching TV, who watched
Bake Off on average) by the share, then you get the % of people in each demo who were watching any TV in the slot (including timeshift of that slot*), which I've put above. Kind of reinforces Samuel's point about the importance of the grey vote.
Some 2.65m, one-quarter of all those aged 65+, watched
Bake Off on average over the hour (inc timeshift of the period) - while 4.0m watched something else shown at the same time, and another 4.0m on average did not watch TV broadcast in that period.
Oh, and the total TV audience was 25.1m in the 20:00 slot (again including timeshift of the slot, yada yada), up from 22.8m last week.
* This means that if you watched both Bake Off
and Celebrity Squares
last night via live TV/PVR, for instance, you would be counted twice in terms of these 'watching any TV' figures, and indeed 'total TV audience' figures.

Thanks Lewie. I've added in the official ratings for those shows that made the BBC One top 30, and done the same for ITV1 (as was).

Would be really nice to see
Bake Off overtake
I'm a Celeb there. Will definitely do so in share, may even be third in share among programmes in that list, depending on how much it timeshifts relative to other shows in the timeslot.
In the pre-Attentional era, the first part of the series 1
Pop Idol final on Saturday 9/2/02 (Gareth Gates/Will Young) scored 13.34m officially, so
Bake Off will probably be above that too. However, that one-hour performance show for
Pop Idol from 19:10 got a 57% share in the full-slot overnights (rating of 13.1m) according to
MediaGuardian. which is just enormous and only surpassed in the (official) shares above by the
BGT final results in late May at the height of SuBo-mania (a stunning 68.1%). The
Pop Idol results show, at the bonkers time of 22:10, rated 11.7m/50% overnight (not tape-checked) and 12.52m officially.
Here's the full ITV1 schedule for that
Pop Idol final night, with official ratings where available:
