I think the word has been spreading about Remember Me as it has shot up the iPlayer chart. It's currently at number one.


I was thinking Wolf Hall could be January, then I thought it wouldn't have many Windows of non BBC1 drama to be scheduled in. I think it could be a Wednesday show if it is on in January.

I know it's a stinker which is why i wouldn't past the beeb to do it!

getting away from christmas (bah humbug) before i lose the will to live. just looked at the officials on barb and nice to see eastenders getting over 8 million for two episodes. i think a little celebration is in order.

Just watched last night's episode of The Mekon River With Sue Perkins. Great programme. I'm delighted to see it perform well in the ratings.

Just before it BBC2 ran a trailer for Wild Weather With Richard Hammond starting on BBC1 on Monday 1st December. Happy to see something like this in the BBC1 schedule, even though it's not likely to do any better in the ratings than the New Tricks repeats it replaces and even though Hammond's primetime factual shows get accused, with some justification I suppose, of being a bit "Kids' TV".

IAC's rating last night looks good in raw numbers but not so good when you see the year-on-year drop. Of course, that drop is understandable because it faced much tougher competition last night compared with last year. Remember Me had twice the rating that Britain And The Sea got.

I was just wondering if anyone could pick out anything from the BBC's recent announcement of many new drama commissions that could go out against IAC next year. Or against Downton.

I was thinking - some BBC fans who want to see more aggressive BBC scheduling were suggesting that BBC1 should be scheduling New Tricks against Downton. Ha ha ha - maybe next year they'll get their wish as BBC1 burn off what will probably be the final series.

It might be DA last season too !!

Although, if that was the case, Downton would be going out on a relative high and not ending with a whimper like New Tricks.

No dramas in the Crickley Hall/Remember Me vein commissioned yet, none I can see anyway, but I think The Secret Agent could work against IAC, three part spy drama based on Joseph Conrad's book.

Not sure about Downton, but I wouldn't be that surprised if they did burn off New Tricks against it like they did with Spooks.

And what stands out is how much it adds in timeshift. BBC2 shows rarely add 1 million. Peaky Blinders was usually adding around half a million.

I agree with those that say The Apprentice final will go out on Sunday 21st. This would leave Christmas Eve free for something special and not the lazy scheduling we saw last year.

I like this as a Christmas schedule.....


......particularly the 8.30pm offering. I'm another who thinks that doesn't belong on Christmas Day. Sadly it will be on Christmas Day. The BBC won't move it for fear of attracting negative press stories about them "relegating" their biggest drama hit, even though a slot on Christmas Eve or Boxing Day is still a big thing. That's why we all got narked last year at Holby City and its crap ratings getting a Christmas Eve slot and Len Godman's Perfect Christmas and its crap budget getting a Boxing Day slot.

I imagine that given they recently talked up the success of Our Girl we'll get another younger skewing drama opposite Downton next year. Or at least an attempt to skew young despite how little sense that makes running on the BBC1 Sunday night schedule.

When EastEnders gets an overnight rating of 8m like it managed earlier this year during Lucy murder week then it truly will be a time to celebrate.

It's mad that only four years ago EE's 25th live episode got 16m. At present I'd not confidently put money on the 30th getting into double figures.

I hope ratings will jump for the reveal but I can't see it jumping by that much. Christmas will give us some idea about how well EastEnders can pull in extra viewers now.

EastEnders anniversary will be like DW. Not stop promotion from the BBC, trailers every break, posters, teasers, midnight announcements etc. The BBC will push heavily. I think it will make 10m-11m but not much more. From then on it will plummet back down to earth.

Christmas will give you no clues. Like last year I suspect EE will be below 8m.

Simon Cowell hints to The Sun today that he will be quitting TXF in the UK next year as he has four different projects coming up in the US (I thought the ITV contract for the next two years required Cowell to be there).

I guess without seeing the contract, there is nothing to say that a further two years of TXF will follow in 2015 and 2016. If like others have said, with the Rugby being on, maybe TXF will take a break. This could allow Simon to start his new projects and then return afterwards.

However any break for TXF could effectively kill the series
