Its makes you wonder why ITV commission these things for the main channel. I can see it being a sub 3m, perhaps even sub 2m if they're unlucky. Something like this would be good to put on ITV2 where it can pick up a respectable audience of 500-700k.

That said, the problem with Professor Branestawm is that it really doesn't look very good.”

Really?

Well it looks like 'the mirror' has beaten 'the mail' this year to complain about the endless repeats at christmas

Maybe they should follow it with a documentary about Jedward.

Professor Brainstawm will do fine. As usual even on Christmas Eve many viewers will stay on BBC1. I imagine it will be well over 5m.

the daily (hating bbc) mail will not like the mirror beating them to this. i stopped buying the mirror some time ago and wouldn't give the daily mail house room.

Yup, I love Not Going Out and Harry Hill so it's fine by me - far better than the middle clarse twee tosh Miranda, I genuinely don't know anybody who watches it.

I appreciate their most popular shows are on Christmas Day but unfortunately there is nothing for the average working class male apart from Mrs Brown.

My two penn'orth - the 118.9k in the Overnights.tv tweet was the +1 for the 7pm episode rather than the 8pm one, by the look of it. My guess is that 5.4m is the 8pm episode +1-included to one decimal place (5.18m + 210k), and Overnights.tv have mistakenly shown it as a +1-excluded number, next to the 7pm episode's +1 rating to boot.

Just looking back at Christmas on ITV in 2012. They had The Grinch, Aladdin, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Tangled, none of which are to be seen. Very, very disappointing. All of them bar Tangled rated well.

I truly believe The Muppets Christmas Carol is he best Xmas Eve film of all time. Has anyone on here seen it?

I can't believe they're sticking YBF on, on Xmas day. Laziness.

We usually watch less TV at Christmas than any other time of year because all the good stuff stops and the rubbish or repeats replaces them.Every year its the same old stuff so we line up the DVDs.

I thought "Our Zoo" would get a series 2, though i dont mind if not.I really enjoyed it because it was different from the usual dramas.

Has it been announced either way then?

I dont find "The Missing" anymore complicated than other dramas, but I do find the mono emotional over-acting of Nesbitt's Tony to be annoying to the point where i consider turning it off! If I have to watch more closeups of his facial expressions Im going to murder him myself!

and they're absolutely right. I do though think the BBC is doing it deliberately - an austerity schedule to plead poverty. Talk about axing BBC4 too. A political game is being played.

Saw the trail last night. Looks awful. They've made it look like Blandings.

My major beef is that trailers for xmas shows are airing without any festive sparkle just plain red bbc1 end boards presumably until the festive ident launches on Saturday. Plain stupid. And showing trailers for Esio Trot "new year's day at 6.30" is crazy on 3rd December! At least say coming soon or this xmas!!

Sorry, one more thought before i go!
I think people leave the TV on over christmas when they arent even watching it...so the more mindless and repetitive the better because no one cares. Its just a background noise. the number of people i visit where the TV stays on but unwatched while we are having conversation. Its the equivalent of a comfort open fire!

I'm not convinced Skyfall will pull a blockbusting audience but now Branestawm has shown some leg I think it's fair to say now that BBC1 is going to get trounced on xmas eve.

EE will be the top bbc1 show but probably only get 6m dented by the bond premiere. Branestawm and NGO look like being 3.5-4m. Toy Story repeat won't do much opposite the soaps perhaps 4.5m and I can see the MBB repeat getting 4m+ to put bbc1's other offerings in perspective.

I reckon 6m for Skyfall with the soaps around 7-9m. The BBC have done EE no favours for xmas day with the schedule the previous night.

All the papers are mentioning it my favourite figure from that is 67.5% of all programmes this Christmas on the four main channels (channel 5 apparently doesn't count) worst is BBC2 with 74 % and C4 with 72%, of course this includes old films, programmes on during the night and doesn't include the News and weather.

Amongst those repeats are some classic Christmas specials, and there would have been an outcry if these were not shown - things like The Snowman.

Yes it is bad that there are a lot of repeats, but for the majority of people they will be at work the week before Christmas and will miss a lot of the daytime filler. However those with a Sky/Virgin subscription may be found watching comedy repeats on Gold or Dave. Let's not even look at Sky One over the Christmas period

Yes the people who compile the repeats and what sad people they are would have heart attacks about the 100% repeats of most Digital channels.
