Caps another distinctly unimpressive week for Channel 5, saved only by a strong Wednesday and an OK Saturday (and OK is good on a Saturday).

That's the last thing Corrie needs right now - to be dented by Strictly every week of autumn.

The consolidated ratings will have Downton higher than Cilla and Happy Valley. Its consolidated ratings might be behind Call The Midwife for some episodes which I wouldn't have said a few weeks ago. Midwife might be up slightly next year as it won't be facing Rising Star. But we can't say for certain as ratings hace been so unpredictable recently.

Still rating higher than Our Zoo though!

Just out of interest, does anyone know what DA's current totals are including consolidated figures? Of course I realise that DA will consolidate more than Happy Valley and Cilla (it has already exceeded both dramas in just overnights alone) but the sudden loss of a huge amount of overnight viewers must be concerning for ITV. Without XF/DA on Autumn Sundays, what else do they have?

Corrie would flop on Sundays against Strictly. Sunday Night at the Palladium hasn't done too badly against Strictly though - it's where I expected it to be.

Indeed. palladium isn't actually a bad show. I think the problem last night was the host. He is very much like marmite and perhaps not quite as mass viewer material as previous hosts have been.

Good news for Channel 5, They can now have a excuse for showing it at midnight.

It is reliant upon BBC Three going online-only late 2015 according to the plans (the bandwidth will be used for BBC one +1). And as far as I know, that is still under public consultation with the BBC Trust

Our Girl really is a third rate drama. Aimed at EE Stacey fan club. Makes you wonder about BBC when they have cancelled decent drama to put out this tosh. No doubt fits a demographic so a tick in the box.

Though, actually, when it was announced a couple of days ago 'Bobby' immediately posted that there is a very good chance another network is going to pick it up over the next couple of weeks.

Though they always say that don;t they - and I think we can be about 101% sure that if they do that network won't be Channel 5 and won't be picked up again by them here.

It apparently ends on a cliffhanger as well - which is going to really annoy viewers as the original show did after many series.

Sadly, it had potential but never fulfilled it - hardly surprising given that the woman reviving it - when being asked about continuity issues with the 80s/90s original admitted she has never watched any of the original show.

Hence why Cliff Barnes turned from bitter but misguided good guy who was simply not astute enough to beat JR but often an ally of Bobby into a raving baby murdering psychopath who somehow is now a business genius who runs a global conglomerate.

Viewers of a revived show tend to spot such 'minor anomalies' and I would have thought being aware of why the show was such a hit and what your returning characters are like and how they reacted in the past was a little bit of a prerequisite for reviving the show. Otherwise she might as well have just launched a similar one about fracking and called it Houston.

True as this is. Most here expected Downton to have similar overnights to last last year, not massive drops. It's still higher than every other drama on TV but the drop is unexpected.

So Downton is absolutely no risk to the BBC at christmas anymore then. Eastenders is not far off that on Friday! They can split Eastenders this year I think and put 1hr of comedy on at 9pm.

This is typical of the over reactions here. I know what is going to happen, Downton Abbey is going to be written off for about the next 5 years, with predictions of its demise, just because it isn't as big as it was.

Overlooking that even in this lower state it is still bigger than practically anything else.

I am incredibly disappointed in the DA figure. Those viewers who watched last year haven't even bothered to return to the opening episode.

Yes its still a big drama, but ITV ave very little in the way of strong drama presently. They don't need the strong ones they have start to weaken.

Grantchester needs to be a hit tonight. They rely too much on already made hits.

BBC1 will rue the day they axed Crimson Field. I can't see Atlantis or The Musketeers growing in their second seasons.

Couldn't agree more. Downton is still a massive drama.

Realistically it wasn't anyway in 2011. It pulled in over 8m in overnights and EE on BBC1 still got over 9m.

No wonder why it didn't get the ratings, The women who created it didn't even watch the original show.

All of the changes were a switch off for viewers, Channel 5 will do better repeating the original.

Also having a cliffhanger doesn't sound too good either
