Thanks for the additions. I somehow thought The Ark had already been shown and had never heard of Taboo.
The only reference I can find for the BBC2 show is the link below, although there is nothing on BBC media.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/news/...oXEWEBup5yLKaA

So additions to BBC1 Drama list

The Ark (1x90) - David Threlfall in retelling of biblical story - filmed April 2014
Taboo (8x60) - Tom Hardy in period adventurer drama - announced April 2014
Danny and the Human Zoo (1x90) - Fictionalised account of Lenny Henry's teenage years - announced Feb 2014
Laurel and Hardy (1x90) - biopic written by Jeff Pope - announced Dec 2013
Its probably because "Noah" has been in the cinemas this year. Although that was more like Middle Earth than bible imo. The association may put off the broadcast date for The Ark further than planned-interesting to see their take on it.
Must admit I cant wait for the Laurel and Hardy drama-absolute legends!

Certainly its an astonishing slate of upcoming drama from the BBC, and it must be more mud in the eye for the increasingly frustrated MP's/press/detractors/haters that the corporation keeps churning out such a body of challenging work. Its strange that there were periods in the three channel/four channel age when the BBC was under more pressure to deliver programming variety/success than now. The detractors must have thought their "anachronistic" BBC would have been swallowed up by now. Instead it very much remains the standard bearer.
Fully agree.

Note to MPs

TV is not just for Chtistmas, but for all of the year

MPs should be working on the economy not acting for personal reasons against the BBC, they can't meet their own budgets and spend over the top as an election is coming, however freeze the LF for five years ad in extra costs like BBC World and S4C and expect 100% new shows to boot they can't manage the countries budget.

DS believes Neighbours has returned to form. Good article from the soaps editor yesterday detailing why.

I have to say, not much evidence of it in the figures. 1.5m total is about average for the past 12 months. Lunchtime still doing well but not as well as it was a few months ago and ideally it would be over a million at teatime.

It could take ages to recover from a break as long as this one as well.
I think it did well last night. If you look at the figures for Hollyoaks, Neighbours was ahead of both showings, which is unusual of late. Either that or viewers are finally tiring of the drivel Hollyoaks is churning out.

I think you'd be better off putting Hollyoaks in the same league as Doctors than of the big three.

The Ark has been pushed back quite a bit, it was first announced back in 2011 along with Last Tango in Halifax (which was then titled Anthony and Cleopatra). I think it was actually called 'Noah' then too. The casting and filming was only announced this year though, so I wonder if it was the film was the reason for the delay.

I did expect in the same slot The Whale got last year, but The Apprentice meant that couldn't happen. Probably will end up airing around Easter as people have said.

Have I Got News For You and Not Going Out post exactly the same overnight this week as last. What are the chances? I wonder if it was exactly the same people in the BARB sample who watched.

Citizen Khan gains just under half a million on last week to edge ahead of NGO. It's probably done enough to secure a fourth series.

If Last tango was called its first name it would have flopped as people would have thought it was Shakespeare.

However, along among the British soaps, it's posted a 12 per cent increase in ratings, all the others are down 11-12 per cent. It seems despite what it's producers think, Emmerdale is definitely the third soap.

Do you have the Corrie officials (exc/inc +1) for w/e 23rd Nov please as only one HD figure made the ITV+1 Top 10 on BARB this week due to I'm a Celebrity dominating it? Thanks.

Don't normally do them, but why not.

Home and Away
2013 - 352k (4.8%) + 802k (4.2%) + 572k (2.8%) => 1.73m
2014 - 328k (4.5%) + 663k (3.8%) + 502k (2.6%) => 1.53m

Neighbours
2013 - 768k (10.5%) + 1.06m (6.3%) => 1.83m
2014 - 795k (10.7%) + 956k (5.8%) => 1.75m

Home and Away: down 11.6%
Neighbours: down 4.4%

Here you are.

The Ark is finished and ready to go. It featured in a drama trailer which also featured Remember Me. Maybe it'll be a spring drama?

I'm old enough to remember when the wedding episode in 1988 pulled in 20 million viewers and even run of the mill ones would attract 17 million. 1.5 million isn't the same, but respectable for Channel 5 and like BB/CBB is a signature show for the fifth network that guarantees them a regular audience.
People may knock Channel 5, but not many other stations can boast as diverse a range of shows in peak time.

Yes, it performed poorly. Only 544k excluding the +1 channel, AFAIK the lowest ratings for Boxing on Five yet.

They are sticking with it though in the belief that the right fight will attract a decent audience. There was supposed to be a FTA card on the channel tomorrow night but the fight got called off so they are running Rocky Balboa instead.

Next up will be the Golovkin v Murray fight in February, the press conference for which was yesterday and attracted the interest of the UK media:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/box...ds-London.html
I saw much of the press conference yesterday and it got me thinking about the Monaco show back in October. Disappointing but I guess it could be worse. Mick Hennessey believes the Murray-Golovkin fight will have over 2 million watching.. oooohhh I hope so.. and doubt it. Golovkin is still a work in progress but is popular. Murray is.. virtually unknown despite being a Brit.

Thanks for getting back to me!

Am I right in thinking we're getting the BBC 1 Christmas ident tonight? The overall design looks great. Much better than last year.

It really does seem to be a horror show for the soaps as we come up to Xmas. Could they all get the worst ratings ever on the big day?

This year is the 10th year Doctor Who has had a Christmas Special on Christmas Day. I had not realised it was for so long! . I was looking at the different time slots. The earliest was in 2012 when it was given a 17:15 slot. The latest was in 2007 when it was broadcast at 19:50. Since 2010 it has had a different time slot each year.

2014: 18:15
2013: 19:30
2012: 17:15
2011: 19:00
2010: 18:00
2009: 18:00
2008: 18:00
2007: 19:50
2006: 19:00
2005: 19:00

the Xmas schedule is repeat strewn.
Is it too late to put a Ronnies Sketchbook on at 9.30 xmas eve?
Going to assume you're having a laugh with this?
Gogglebox: 1.98m (8.5%) excl +1
Gone off the boil recently. You could say it had a clash with IAC last night but that would be to ignore the fact it got a higher figure the night it clashed with both Strictly and X Factor.
Match of the Day Live: 1.49m (6.8%)
Another solid FA Cup figure for the Beeb.

Maybe an ITV shock ratings win over Xmas will put some lead back in his pencil?

for the EE comment too.

Bit of a shock - the vicar of dibley episode on Xmas eve is not the four lunches one!!!!!!! :O
They might have been better off with the Xmas lunches episode. I think the one they've chosen is the worst of all the Dibley specials.

Similarly, they've picked out the worst My Family special - the one where Roger is just a head powered by electricity, having lost the rest of his body at the zoo, and they've picked out the worst Only Fools special (from 1986), which even the writer hated!
