I think it'll be down due to Christmas shopping, the series being down on last year, some less popular people in the final to generate media buzz and a possible lack of buzz for the final.

I think a peak at 12 million, and let's say ITV doing a limbo dance with Harry Potter, how low can you go? Two million, ( just).

There is a heck of a lot media and social media buzz on SCD, the four finalists are all young and popular, everyone knows them, this series has done very well.

You cannot say Frankie Bridge of the Saturdays and Caroline a Flack are less popular people, Frankie has never been in a dance off and a national paper says she has topped the voting for a number of weeks, whilst betting has been in favour of Caroline, there is a late swing to Frankie.

Anyone out Christmas shopping today will be back home exhausted, and there are still quite a few shopping days to Christmas, there maybe a lot of office parties tonight.

Caroline was on the front page of the sun today, for maybe the wrong reasons and another two pages inside on the finalists, so three pages on the UKs most popular paper does qualify as media buzz, far more than XF got last week.

All the celebrities are back for one last time including Pixie Lott, so everyone's favourite is there like quality street!

No thank you. I'd rather watch Holby this once.
Not keen on Holby but i do like Casualty.

I like the idea of EastEnders being at the centre of the evening. Would much prefer 9pm slot to 8.”

no iam not keen on holby can't get into it, love casualty, shame it is not on until january.

Holby has popular character s returning this week, Rick and Oliver Valentine, and therefore should do well. It's against Christine Bleakley who never rates well on her own.

People won't care much about missing tonight's Harry Potter movie, as they can catch up the same time next year.

They won't wait that long, they'll probably repeat them all again in May like this year.

Must have missed that one. I thought once a year in prime time was bad enough!

The ratings for that run were dreadful though...maybe they'll hold off until July. In the past 2 Summers with no international football (2013 and 2011) they've had July/August Harry Potter repeat runs so they'll probably do it again next year.

Predictions for tonight (inc +1 for ITV):

Strictly (1) - 11.0m
Atlantis - 5.0m
Strictly (2) - 11.1m

Celeb Squares - 2.5m
Harry Potter - 2.7m
Jonathan Ross - 2.4m

Pointless should get a bumper rating again tonight.

As for SCD, this'll be the first year in a while where Brucie doesn't ruin the ending by sucking out all of the fun and having a strop when the past contestants run on at the end.

Eastenders will do well on Christmas Day, will rate better than it has been doing and will be number 1 soap, as it generally is except for a very small number of years when it wasn't.

It wont be number 1 show overall though and will be down on what it got in 2012

He's more efficient than Bruce, he's been sucking the fun out of the final for past two weeks, by getting rid of Jake and Pixie.

I can only hope they're building to a Series 8-style reboot (preferably fronted by Zoe and Claudia) because there's no explanation for picking the already dull finalists' worst dances to open with.

The £7 (x1) will be the backer's stake that you will win if any other show tops the Xmas day ratings. Your potential loss is £20.

Good luck.

I'm going for 11 million for SCD tonight, it's been a consistent performer all season and hasn't suffered the negative publicity TXF has.
As for ITV, they've well and truly thrown in the towel this weekend, with a quiz that wasn't that good 38 years ago, and yet another Harry Potter repeat.
For 2014 overall, this hasn't been ITV's year. Certainly IAC and BGT continue to do well, and they have the second highest rating of the year for England vs Uruguay, but everything else seems to be down and the main station seems worn out and predictable. However, they haven't had any mega flops as has occured in previous years, just their regular shows showing declines and being on way too much.

Yes ITV repeat the Harry Potter films too often, but so do BBC with Indiana Jones but because they rate well enough nobody complains.

But I get my £7 stake back as well if I win, yes? Otherwise it's pretty pointless.
And thanks.

That's a very bad misrepresentation, the Harry Potters are in Primetime and in the same type of slots as last Christmas. Indiana Jones whilst repeated, are fewer films, and only ONE in Primetime on a low rating night NYE.

For ITV to basically " repeat" last years Harry Potter Fest this year is terrible for the UKs no 1 commercial station.

The only correct thing is IJ does rate far better than the over repeated HP.

BTW Fantastic SCD tonight,

The Voice, Trailer in the first SCD junction tonight. Someone said no trailers so far for it and I said the first would be tonight.

And are they crowing at The X Factor?

It's logical, it's back on the 10th and the BBC want to use the high rating SCD Final to launch it.

I actually liked the ad last year for it, though I admit this looked a lot more fun.

On the SCD forum there are reports of not getting through on phone lines ( but you can vote online) this may indicate very high ratings if phones are overloaded.

Understand that North Korea are voting and they have made sure through the Internet that Judy wins.
