Eastenders has exploded on Twitter so ratings might be good and despite negative reactions, tommrow will rate good as well.

To be fair it exploded on Twitter last year though and look how that turned out.

I do expect the rating to be "good" though, say 7.5m+.

I believe tape-checking with regards overnights will have Call the Midwife as 19:50 to 21:00 with EastEnders from 21:05 to 22:00.

Might be totally wrong But think Paul O'Grady is going to hurt DrWho badly.
another DrWho episode some loved but a fair number (including myself) found just a complete mess.

I thought they didn't tape-check on Xmas?

Does that mean there will be some discrepancies?

The quiche joke on MBBs was the best joke of the night

It means the adjustments in the officials may be larger than usual, as there is no intermediate adjustment in the form of tape-checked overnights.

For example, if EE started nearer 21:05 than 21:00, and finished nearer 22:00 than 22:05, then that would have been taken into account by Attentional's tape-checked overnights, except there almost certainly won't be any tape-checking of today's overnight ratings.

Mrs Brown back to its bawdy best tonight imo. Haven't seen EE because I have to catch up from 8/12, but the rest of the schedule has all been decent viewing for me. Miranda very much part 1 of 2 but still had its trademark enthusiasm.

Miranda was the biggest let down. I thought Eastenders was good!

I think Mrs Brown's Boys will be big, it was a very strong episode. I do wonder whether Brendan O'Carroll would consider doing maybe 45 minute to 60 minute specials or given they are likely to make another Mrs Brown movie, I wonder if they'll keep the specials at 30 minutes.

I believe he has only committed himself to two specials next Christmas, they are usually recorded in June.

So - it seems the main gist of tonight's tv verdict from DS is

Dr Who - a let down
ED - almost non-existent in terms of reaction
CS - boring
Miranda - not funny
EE - a big disappointment
Downton - the same old twaddle

You gotta love the DS Xmas spirit

Can I just point out that people don't know whether a particular episode of a TV series is good or bad until after they've watched it. So the quality, good or bad, of an episode is not going to have an effect on the overnight ratings.

Mrs Brown was very good, I hope it wins the day. I don't watch it but the Downton ending appears to have gone down well at least.

Saw Miranda and thought it was absolutely dreadful, although I've never been a fan. Even so it seemed worse than ever. The only other thing I saw was some of Strictly. It seemed good fun and festive and upbeat and it just felt right having Brucie there. The bits I've seen this year have been fine but it has lacked a certain charm without him.

I suppose two 30 minute specials is the equivalent to one 1 hour special so it works out either way.

Except if people switch over or off during broadcast, or Twitter fever takes hold causing friends and family to tune in. Both are less likely to have an effect the shorter the show, of course.

Personally I think its a bit hit and miss(its like a first draft) but I think the Beeb should sign him up and have a proper stab at a live Saturday night entertainment show-a bit of everything thrown in. Definitely worth a stab.
