Christmas Epic Fails to live up to its title then. (I thought it was a documentary about this year's ratings - ahem!)

Maybe ITV will surprise us tonight and score a win with Harry Potter. He avoids Eastenders, but on the downside, it's quite a late finish (10.30pm).

#EastEnders was Monday's most watched with 8.03m/32.8%, its biggest audience in months

Wow. Fantastic for EE! The first 8m rating of the Christmas period I think as well (in terms of average).

And I think that's EE's highest since April? Someone on here will know.

Wow. Fantastic for EE!.”

I was just about to post

That is very good for Eastenders, finally breaking the 8 barrier

EastEnders has found its mojo in a difficult market.

Epic fails lived up to its name, the thread on DS was saying it's all old ( very old) clips.

#TheMuppets were no match for ITV's soaps, averaging just 2.70m/12.4%.
Corrie - 7.75m/33.5% and 7.52m/30.2%
Emmerdale - 6.74m/30.9%.

God The Muppets is very low. Thought it would do better than that.

#8Outof10CatsDoesCountdown pulled in 2.07m/9.0% to C4 from 9pm. It just pipped BBC2's #SnowWolfFamilyandMe (2.05m/8.9%).

That is low for a premier, bring back The One Show, fast!

I think The Muppets is another show in entirely the wrong slot. BBC scheduling this Xmas has been the worst ever.

Wow what's with the jump for EE? I mean, as a big fan I'm really impressed and pleased to see it doing well but 8m when it was in the mid-6s up to Christmas Eve is an impressive jump

And people wanted The Muppets on Christmas Day! It was never going to beat the soaps but that rating us pitiful. Great rating for EastEnders, finally getting an 8m rating again on Monday. And Mapp and Lucia doing as poorly as I thought. BBC1 seems to think Christmas viewing means period dramas and wacky stuff set in the 50s. No more. Branestawm and Mapp and Lucia can do one.

Mapp and Lucia predictably far too niche for a 3 part Xmas special. I wonder how low it will go tonight?

EE has been working very hard on new storylines and they have all come together for the festive period.

Wow shockingly low for The muppets, who would have guessed it would have been just 0.1m below Christmas Epic Fails, the programme which many said was going to be the worst of the whole season.

Not entirely convincing for Mapp and Lucia either, doesn't give it much room to fall over the run, particularly when it concludes on New Year's Eve.

All the soaps seem quite decent, the long gap since Boxing Day probably meant people were ready to catch up with them again.

That 8m EE figure has come from nowhere really. It's pleasing to see as the past two weeks have been brilliant. The NYD episode looks to be fantastic. Let's hope it maintains great ratings in the lead up to February.

It is very good to see their persistence and hard working paying off.

Maybe the 8m figure is a result of people catching up on the Christmas episodes over the weekend and seeing how strong the were?

And in The Muppets we have a new leader in the Most Disappointing Ratings Of The Holiday Season category.

Last night's figures suggest the soaps are going to have a solid January. That'll disappoint some people in here (including me.)

97% for a cartoon repeated annually is completely and utterly bonkers.

Must be fun being a ratings enthusiast in Sweden.

Humble pie for all the scheduling experts on here who said it should have had a Christmas Day slot

Its like the Germans watching Freddy Frinton every Christmas, think Dinner for one gets the biggest Christmas audience every year, for no apparent reason other than tradition.
It is very funny though, has it ever been shown in UK.

I think EE will do very well on New Year's Day. Hopefully it will sustain that 8m momentum (or at least be in the high 7s) up to the anniversary week.

Are they not simply benefiting from the fact that it's the holidays and sod all else is on?
