The soaps getting a mid-festive Monday bounce.

The main story really being EE, not just bettering the other main two, but rising to it's best rating since April & well up on last year, whilst the other two really just rallied to ratings they were getting a month ago and both significantly down on last year.

The Muppets failed rather spectacularly - not surprised - a dated concept now & best left to the CBeebies channel.

Mapp & Lucia - did what it said on the tin - a mid-range rating underlying it's niche appeal. It still won the slot though.

Anything for the Miranda repeat?

Just as in the past, most TV programming is mostly awful. This means people will not be choosing to watch much of anything, hence the low ratings.

TV needs to get back to being a social hub, quickly!”

You keep posting this but it is not going to happen! You can see from above people will watch shows when they want, there is no social hub bar say shows such as SCD which is live and everyone can interact with it, but generally everyone has their interests and priorities and commitments and a social hub is a thing of the past.

You see what i mean when i said EastEnders will rise this festive season

NYD will be it's highest rating in ages i am very sure. It's based around well known characters and has a shock and a stunt.

Well you had to be right one time. After all the predictions of EE rising, it had to happen some time. If it wasn't yesterday it would have been NYD.

It's not the first time though
It was so obvious tbh. The shows quality is so much better again and things are actually happening.

I have every faith in the 30th Week rating very well.

This is true! EastEnders has deserved a decent rating for some time now.

Ronant do you know how Unbelievable Moments Caught On Camera on ITV and Shocking Celeb Moments on Channel 5 did over Christmas?

But you were calling for DTC to be sacked a couple of weeks ago - do you still think that

The best programs on TV get low ratings such as BBC4.

I expect with pvr timeshifting the viewers are stripping out the ads out themselves.

It's just the way the show was very inconsistent between April and October that annoyed me. Think i made the thread longer than a couple of weeks ago

Thanks Ronant.

I remember when these sorts of clip shows would rate much higher. Has You Tube killed them off?

Good for Emmerdale, rebounding after its usual Christmas slump. Corrie doing as much as could be hoped for really but ITV should really be taking some concern at yet another year-on-year decline.

Strong rating for EastEnders but as happened last time it will fall back to its regular 6-7m once the big episodes are done with. Nonetheless it shows that it should gather a big audience for its anniversary week.

Thanks DMN.

BBC2's top rated comedy for the year and only comedy to reach 3m is still a Dave Allen compilation. How did Brian Pern, Derek and Never Mind The Buzzcocks do?

Miranda repeat rated 3.04m.

Despite being on against EastEnders, Countrywise outrated Christmas Epic Fails, 2.69m ahead of 2.61 including +1.

If like 2010 for the 25th then strong episodes should last until mid Feb. This week sees the show more Beale/Mitchell/Branning centric so viewers will know a lot of faces,
The Murder plot picks up again on NYD and carries through into Feb.

Without going into it too much in the time between now and the 30th Every big family and character on the show has something big happening too them.
All the icons will be at the forefront of the show.

Unbelievable rating for ITV Local News, it goes to show that either viewers had nothing else to watch or aren't bothered about quality, and ITV Regional News bulletins, especially in my region are soo light on news, it's hardly worth the effort to broadcast it.

Unwelcome news for ITV plc who have been trying to get rid of regional news for years
