Possible,

Radio One has always been a training ground for BBC TV,,

1550-1700 Final Score on BBC 1 followed by News and regional news
1720-1930 Arsenal v Hull
1930 SOAH

The Final Score red button service usually starts 30 minutes before kick-off time

Probably because of how the days fell, and because they wanted to launch Last Tango on Sunday

Greg James is ok, but Gemma Cairney?? Expect viewers to say bring back Bleakley, Kaplinsky, Logan, Silverton, Jones or indeed any other female BBC1 presenter in the past. If she's commentating over the fireworks it will be a car crash.

If we were talking about an ITV drama then 'burn it off over Christmas' would be an excuse, but this isn't the case for BBC1. Christmas is peak season for them where only the best programming airs.

Despite the usual moans about the scheduling, very strong for Harry Potter again and only 0.1m below the film premiere on BBC1. You can see why they keep showing them, I doubt much else has got 4m on a Tuesday on ITV for a while.

In any case, high time Greg James was given a fair crack of the BBC One whip rather than continuing to do everything that ever comes up on Three only to be pushed out in favour of smelly old Fearne Cotton whenever BBC One stuff comes up.

Greg James will be better off doing the New Year fireworks on his own.

Thanks Ronant.

House Of Fools really doesn't rate well does it? That's a good rating for Brooker. Did he beat David Blaine on Channel 4?

The best thing on was Brooker slagging things off last night

In 2015 I think Fearne may get a bigger part on The One Show.

She is more suited to TOS than other shows she is on.

Whilst mentioning her this afternoons TOTP is on now, that's stupid scheduling, lots of people have to work today, it's being burnt off in an afternoon slot, it could gave been shown layer 6 or 7 pm and get more viewers. Indiana will get a reasonable rating but could gave been in shoulder peak like the others this week.

When papers complain about repeats, putting this on in a working day afternoon is silly However viewers can IPlayer it later. .

BBC don't care about TOTP.

Funniest thing on TV over Christmas, followed by last night's Brooker and Adam Buxton's Shed of Christmas on Sky Arts.

I agree, and it's surely the kind of show people would watch while pre-drinking and getting ready to go out

Could have swapped with Pointless at least.

Agree

And pointless is a repeat. They just want continuity of it being on in or around that slot all week. TOTP should have been on later.

Sounds like it's the same artists and some of the same songs as the Xmas Day episode, so if anything TOTP was lucky to get as prominent a slot as it has done.

None of the same songs, some of the same artists. If they've had more than one big hit in the year, it would be silly not to. A good selection of artists too.

They perhaps could have had this at 5.05 with the Pointless Celebrities repeat at 4.15, but I don't really have too many complaints about the scheduling. It's not going to set the ratings world on fire, but definetly worth having on NYE.

Well that's what was said in the dedicated thread. If it's too samey it won't rate.

At least someone isn't unhappy with the scheduling. That excuse is being used for everything that underperformed for BBC One this Christmas, and when that's quite a long list, it gets tedious quickly.

Remember Me was far too dark for Christmas and time and time again three part stripped drama get lost at Christmas when folk are out regularly and can't be bothered committing to something airing more than once a week.

The BBC just don't learn. Every year they do it, wasting something that could have done far better elsewhere. Mapp and Lucia is this year's example. Unless they are just using Christmas as a dumping ground now, knowing ITV1 offers no competition and may give turkeys a chance.

I would add too that this has been a complete pig's ear of a Christmas by the BBC, thinly spread and badly scheduled, and abysmally promoted. The glory days are long gone, as the poor ratings this year confirm. I don't think the BBC are really even bothering these days to make it special.
