Actually, ITV could have repeated it after the ten o'clock news each night at Christmas. Think how enticing that would have been? Certainly a strong way to promote series 2.

Great television drama on any channel is something to be thankful for. Some forum members are too predictable though.

Broadchurch was repeated on ITV Encore and the whole series is up on Sky On Demand now.

Well apparently the writer has said not to expect the same style as last time-so who knows.

I know I will get into trouble for this but the FA Cup just seemed better on BBC somehow. Good match as well.

I think they have missed a trick there-its rare that people join a second series if they have not seen the first and I think a more high profile repeat would have pushed the boat out even further.

In exactly the same way Moffat says things about DW that we shouldn't expect or should expect but we end up getting more or less the same! Writers always say something along the lines you quote. They believe 100% that what they write is a different style to what came before but it ends up being similar in style and intrigue because that is what the style of the writer actually is!

Agree. Would actually like to read their unbiased thoughts on it though. Apart from the adverts this is one drama that would not look out of place on the BBC.

Broadchurch was fantastic tonight. Showed all the rip-offs up for what they are and was just a brilliant hour of drama.

I'd love it to get a big rating but we'll see. I'm loathe to predict what it'll at actually get as I've got no idea...although I'll have to do so later for the DSRPG! I'll have a think about it and see.

The Missing was mouth-wateringly brilliant. Broadchurch is mouth wateringly brilliant. But neither are a copy of the other. You could make that claim about any drama on TV.

Why would you? always find football is better on BBC as does most of the nation hence the bbc matches in the World Cup get more ratings than ITV's showings, if both stations are showing the same thing viewers always stick with bbc1 it seems.

Looks like something that would have been written off as a flop if H de V had posted a link to a press release ages before transmission.

What would be accepted as unbiased though, anything positive? I agree that there are a lot of biases in this thread, but they work both ways.

My thoughts of Broadchurch - it was a good episode, but I did not get the impression that it was planned beforehand like we're being led to believe. It felt like they were dragging the Latimer case out unnecessarily, if all the other 7 episodes are of this quality, or better, then they'll get away with it but I felt like they could have done more. Well, that's because people long for things to fail these days. People are always writing things off as a flop within the first five minutes of anything before giving it a real chance.

I'm 46 years old and generally like to wait until I've seen something before making a judgement. It looks like a magic version of Off Their Rockers, half an hour of entertaining nonsense. It is certainly worth a look at.

Breakfast have been showing these little 5 minute pieces of toot (usually about 6:45am then repeated 7:45 & 8:45ish) outwith the 'showbiz slot' for at least 10 years. I've seen them for Corrie, EastEnders, Downton Abbey, Doctor Who, The X Factor, SCD, BGT, Merlin, Atlantis, Torchwood, Life on Mars, The Musketeers, etc, etc... as well as countless film premieres, award ceremonies and red carpet events. Predictable stuff and nothing to get too excited about!

It's all about as predictable and exciting as Broadchurch easily hitting 8.5m+ tonight and then timeshifting another 2.5m!

I guess it allows those who wanted to watch the football and didn't see it on BBC3 earlier could be one reason.

Considering the opposition I'll be slightly surprised if Broadchurch gets 8.5m.
