You can tell someone has an agenda when they comment on a poor figure for a soap that was out of slot and ignore the poor figures for other soaps that were in slot.

It was in one of the national papers, can't remember which.

Quite petty if you ask me trying to rain on Broadchurch's parade. Most viewers appear to be loving it.

Yes, and they also mentioned "brand new Would I Lie To You", which is also still down on the Freeview EPG, and that's normally updated pretty sharpish. I can't imagine any reference to Paris would be enough to get a programme dropped, it's a big city. It would be like dropping any references to London after 7/7.

Anyway, I've said this before but I can't imagine anyone being ignorant enough to miss the second 'stEnders when they made it clear it was a double bill in the intro and will clearly say so again at the end. And BBC1's pensioner audience who never switch over will clearly boost it, natch.

EDIT: There you go, David got confused.

They did a better job of it than on Tuesday.

You mean like all that discussion about Emmerdale at Christmas? Or the Corrie episode that aired on the Sunday opposite Strictly that the tabloids ran wild with?

The focus is on the failure of the BBC to adequately promote it's flagship soap. It's not good enough.

And mentioned on end titles as well.

I agree with LHolmes. A more balanced take from you would be nice. I know you're convinced everybody - including me apparently - is out to get ITV. And this core theme underlines almost every contribution you make in here. But in reality I can't believe anyone would seriously think that way, and the one or two that it might apply to aren't worth the time of day anyway. Beyond that you have people who are as passionate about ITV's output as you are - of which there are very many, probably more than half the regulars, curiously few of which if any seem to agree with you on ITV getting a raw deal in here - and then the likes of me who genuinely want to see them as strong as possible, and acknowledge the good as well as the bad, as opposed to focussing only on the good and rubbishing any bad comments like you do.

Hardly fair to single out EastEnders. Corrie down about 1.2m YoY yesterday and has been doing very poorly on this measure for some time now. Of the two no debate to be had about which is doing worse at the moment. It's not about channels or preferences or anything like that, it's just the reality of the situation.

Having said that it's not a competition and the soap genre is going through a difficult time generally.

But the other soaps figures weren't THAT poor in comparison. Corrie is truly dire at the moment and was over 1.1 million ahead of EE and the 'third soap' Emmerdale was less than 0.05m behind.

Yeah I heard

#DoubleEastEnders is trending on twitter also.

You would think so. Someone said on the episode thread. ''I thought there was an hour ep''

First time in two weeks Corrie has been a head of EastEnders and that was always going to happen with that silly slot.

I meant poor by their own standards not in relation to EE. Corrie was always going to be a good bit ahead of EE last night. Both ITV soaps are a million down on 2014.

Corrie has been down around 1m year on year for months (in fact I'd love to know exactly when this trend started). The situation hasn't changed so why would there be continued debate over EE which is currently heading towards a big anniversary and murder reveal.

#DoubleEastenders was trending? Can't have been for long as I can't see it. Also it's good to see EastEnders doing well but it has been ahead for 2 weeks, Coronation Street has been ahead for 2/3 years.

And the quotes being people on Twitter.

Every single programme on TV gets slagged off on Twitter by at least enough people to make an article, and most do on DS as well.

Lazy journalism using comments on Twitter, who cares what some individual thinks enough to actually print the comments.

The papers like nothing more than trying to kick down a successful programme.

I bet Andy did not know that all those newspapers were anti ITV too !! He will have to add them to the list.

Because I thought Andy was being unfair in only noting EE's poor figure, ignoring the continued poor ratings of the ITV soaps which were in their usual slots last night.

Of course on Monday, the rating will be down due to the Silent Witness clash, which will lead to more negative headlines and a repeat of this story again as well.”

That Broadchurch story is very petty. It sounded fine to me and I don't have surround sound.

ITV have released their Winter drama trailer here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zy55Hqa27kc

Dramas include: Arthur & George, Mr Selfridge, Safe House, The Trials of Jimmy Rose, Home Fires and Black Work

Looks good. Some of those dramas should be excellent.

Also for Saturday re: Stars In Their Eyes https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=65_TfYkBjuY

One paper (I think it was the Express) specifically mentioned DS

Maybe so but there's no point repeating the same point every day with regards to Corrie.

Funny Would I lie to you show.

I can see four hundred Daily Mail readers complaining about the French accents in view of recent events.

And a thousand complaints re Adrain Chiles Birmingham accent.
