Many in here complained about how "poorly" the Top Gear specials did over Christmas, but 4.7m is a brilliant
consolidated figure for BBC2, never mind an overnight. And, as we all already knew, even those who moaned, Top Gear is one of those programmes where a significant chunk of its audience watch at their own convenience. It has that sort of viewer.
You can see why the BBC let Clarkson get away with so much. He could present a whole programme dressed as a Black & White Minstrel and they still wouldn't sack him. "What?!
