Has anyone seen an X Factor trailer today? I'm fairly sure it will be 19:30 as they would have had the EPGs changed by now otherwise...wouldn't they?

Channel 4's woes making ITV's -7% slippage seem not so bad there.

It confirms what many of us suspected about the omnibus taking some of the ratings from the Friday EastEnders. And also the Saturday X Factor timeshift is unaffected by Sunday repeats.

There hasn't been a single showing of a trailer during Grantchester. Good Morning Britain got one though, as has The Great Fire and Scott & Bailey.

Channel of the Year and yet BARB users are beginning to forget it exists! 5.1% must be right up there with some of the worst performing months in the channel's history. They also went that low in July 2013, but at this time of year it's rather new.

Maybe they can leave September behind with the beast that is Gogglebox back in action and a promising new show on Monday nights in the shape of 24 Hours in Police Custody. But it's been a mixed bag again to start this month after virtually nobody tuned into the series premiere of Stars At Your Service, which might have good intentions with the Stand Up to Cancer link but ultimately was a piss poor idea always destined to fail. This one started out promising, but ultimately didn't deliver.

Apparently the results are "funny, sublime or ridiculous" but I'm nearly dropping off by the time I've finished reading the writeup. What a monumentally crap idea for a programme. Beggars belief that it's airing in the heart of primetime on a major TV channel.

I don't think Grantchester will be quite the hit I thought it might be, is a bit slow. I feel its going to have a big drop off, but I will be happy to be proved wrong.

It's been quite badly received on the DS thread with mediocre reaction. Not much talk of it on social media either, quite unlike Cilla. This could well end up being a flop for Itv if it bleeds viewers, like how most of their dramas normally experience.

For ITV's sake it needs to be a hit... I enjoyed it but I am the first to say I have no taste in programming so that's probably a warning sign in itself.

It was nice, but the story was slow.

ITV seriously need another drama hit, otherwise they could go through the entire year without finding a new returnable drama.

Enough of these 3-4 parters.

That they're down isn't surprising but the degree they're down particularly the Fox line-up is rather worrisome. The Fox shows all more or less halved their viewers in a week. That's a huge drop across the board and not something that should be readily dismissed. If EastEnders dropped 50% of its audience in a week this thread would implode. For ABC that the Frozen hype seems to be wearing off rather quickly isn't a great sign either especially not with Resurrection and Revenge both pulling poor numbers.

Sorry to tell you but today Itv released a press release for yet another 3-4 part drama starring Christopher Ecclestone called Safe House. Like many of their new dramas, this one has no returnable potential at all and is intended as a single series program.

I think The Kitchen on BBC2 could be over 2m tonight. Its the BBC's version of Gogglebox.

No idea how Grantchester will do tomorrow, this is the of thing that does very well for ITV regardless of quality, although they never do these detective dramas badly, they usually range from average to very good. However it was quite slow in places and it doesn't have a big selling point to really pull the audience in like Cilla did, there also doesn't seem to be any "buzz" around it at all, but then these dramas never do and still manage to rate well.

I'm still thinking around 6m but it could easily be another Our Zoo, hyped up for a weeks/months* and being called a "by the numbers hit" by most reviewers only to not connect with an audience.

*I got sick of hearing about Granchester before it even started filming.

How many attempts have they made to launch a returnable drama this year? I can't think of one since Breathless and that was in 2013.

They've aired dramas in their second etc. series and, as you say, 2-4 parters as one offs but there have been no efforts at launching a returnable drama until tonight from what I can recall.

Somebody gave it a "generous" six out of ten. Doesn't sound particularly generous to me !

Fully expect Grantchester to at least start well though. It sounds safe and will play well to the usual ITV drama audience. It's just unfortunate that it had to follow a standout performer like Cilla. I don't see it being a Cilla type hit but I could be wrong.

Yes I've posted in this thread about this drama (if you look back), but it does say in the DS article its commissioned on the basis it could be a returnable drama.

This one could be anything. But remember Gogglebox started very very quietly. It took time to catch on.

Also strongly believe 24 Hours in Police Custody will increase week-on-week. So an interesting 9PM slot beyond Grantchester which will be the obvious talking point and headline generator tomorrow.

Not a suprise that ITV are down again - it is really turning into a annus horribilis for them. I am not gloating about that either. We need more and better from ITV for the sake of all tv.

The Telegraph have given it 4 stars out of 5.

3 or 4 parters obviously work for ITV or they wouldn't keep commissioning them. The Widower and Cilla have been two of their biggest hits this year.

I suppose Chasing Shadows was meant to be returnable.

Zero......that's zero. They have made no effort to find more returnable hits.

Channel 5 taking a chance next Monday putting Gotham up against the walking dead.

But what will replace them next year? I suppose the slowly declining Doc Martin will be back in 2015 so that could air on Monday. But with Downton slipping, the aforementioned Doc Martin, slipping, Scott & Bailey slipping, Lewis on potentially it's last series and losing the Champions League they need to find something and quickly.

Glad a few more viewers tuned in to Marvellous-the downside of such fragmented viewing these days is that people can occasionally miss out on a real treat. Hopefully it will have some more airings soon.
