Both the girls are doing a fantastic job. I love the whole Strictly band wagon and I for one am glad that there is at least something on the goggle box now worth watching.

As for Tess .......... where to start?
How about Chris Hollins? A proper presenter who knows the score and can work "live."”

I feel exactly the same about Claudia, I can't stand her... or her inane ramblings that seem to pass for wit, she seems incapable of standing still and just waddles and slouch around with the grace and elegance of Mr Blobby. She has spoilt SCD for me...I just wouldn't watch if I didn't have the option of not listening to a word she says. It has nothing to do with bring back Brucie , it's please just give us a credible presenter.

Hmm..

Now you know how some of us felt about Brucie for years!

I think the BBC will stick with what they've got.

After all, they took no notice about all the complaints about Brucie, for many series.

However, they had the sense to finally realise he was losing his cognitive faculties and that the old codger would want to go on (so let him go, despite what he's said) until he might tragically drop dead on stage, which would sad, but it would also kill their number one show.

Claudia has livened up the after dance interview and allowed the performers to chat and relax. She might not be everyone's cup of tea, but she's different and also doing fine.

I can't understand the obsession that there must be a man fronting the show. Why? Presumably those who want Tess replaced have a thing about women being in charge of anything. "Just shut up dear and leave the important things to the men". Grrrrrrr.

There must be an entertainer. Why? The show isn't about the presenter - it's about celebs learning to dance and judges (hopefully) giving constructive criticism about what they do.

It's isn't a vehicle for someone to try to make the show his own, to pollute it with unfunny "jokes, to take up time which could be usefully be used to hear what ALL the judges have to say, to disagree with the judges, to have an ego bigger than S Paul's Cathedral.

On Tess's behalf I'm really offended by this desire to replace her without giving her a chance to prove her worth, and with the opinion that a woman could never be as good as a man in the job. So old-fashioned, so sexist and so not 21st century.”

Well put, Tess is not trying to make it the 'Tess Daly Programme' as others would. She gets on with the job without too much fuss.

I don't like quotas when there are one or two token women on a programme but we have ended up with two women presenters on ability not tokenism.

Can't stand Brydon and always get the impression that his 'ad-libs' are carefully prepared beforehand.

Okay, obviously not your choice, but then it isn't all about you, and people are just voicing their opinions, and as such, some do not consider that 'things are fine as they are'. To me it's acceptable, but could be better.

I think maybe you are taking this a little bit too seriously.

You're making me smile.

I'm accepting the situation as it is.

It wasn't my decision, it was the BBC's.

You're the one looking for change, so it's you who are taking it too seriously.

It's just a telly programme, nothing more.

I can imagine.

As am I, as I said, it is acceptable.

I would prefer change, and just discussing who I would prefer. Is that really taking it too seriously? You however, are talking about cutting dramas, and the amount they pay! Like I said, taking it too seriously.

It is just a telly programme, indeed.

My point seems to be going over your head. When I suggested employing Graham Norton would mean "cutting a drama" I was exaggerating, but making the point that it's silly to pay hundreds of thousands of pounds for someone just to front a dance programme.

I'm one who doesn't buy into this cult of the "celebrity presenter." They aren't always necessary in my opinion.
As many have said, Norton would try to make it "more about him."

Even discussing "who would make a better presenter?" is in my opinion, "taking it to seriously" (as you were suggesting, was I) as we all know, it ain't gonna happen.

- Now you are making me smile. Anyway, as we both agree, it is really not that important, and I am now off for my lunch.

I'm with Doghouse on this.

Now those of you who liked the previous presenter but can't stand Claudia know who many of us have felt for the last 11 series, and there was more of him in each show than there is of Claudia so you're getting off more lightly than we did.

Maybe you're too young to remember when he had his own series.

Brian Conley

He's a very funny guy and there was a running gag in his show about Larry the Loafer (mickey take of Gordon the Gopher from Going Live!) his catchphrase from his show was "It's a puppet!"

I'm 65!!!!!!
Maybe my viewing habits have bypassed him.

Haven't you heard the "It's a puppet!!!" catchphrase Alan? Conley used to have his own variety show which was quite good. He reminded me a bit of Russ Abbott but there was more stand up and less sketches.

Now Russ Abbott! He would be good!

This.

And, if it's really just about the standard of the presenting and not the gender of the presenters, then why has nobody suggested a 'better' female presenter? So far, Brian Conley, Gethin Jones, Alan Carr, Anton (who I can at least agree with as he's an actual dancer), etc. What about a new female presenter?

Kirsty Gallacher would be my choice

Actually, I'm in favour of gender balance. Most TV progs with more than one presenter have man and a woman. There must be a reason - appealing to both audiences, maybe?

Don't know how you managed to miss him, but these days he does a lot of theatre work. He was brilliant as Edna in Hairspray with Les Dennis as Wilbur. He can sing so he's an all round entertainer and would be fine with live presenting too.

Not so keen on Russ Abbott though.

I'd much rather just stick with Tess and Claudia.

Ditto, vaguely recognise the name but doubt whether I would recognise him and I can't remember every watching him in or on anything.

I'm not against a gender balance, it's just that sometimes when there is a man and a woman, the man takes over a bit or is treated like the 'main' presenter.

Russ Abbott had a hit TV show in the first half of the eighties. With characters such as Basildon Bond and Barratt Holmes, he was something of a Saturday night hit and he won the TV Times "funniest man of the year" award five times, which was a big deal back in the day. Also he had some hits, such as "What An Atmosphere", and gave a lot of stars their break into prime time TV, such as Michael Barrymore and Les Dennis. For some reason he vanished off our TV screens after the 80's, as did a lot of other stars who were quite big back then such as Lenny Bennett, Mike Yarwood and Little & Large.
