The "turning off the light" bit on ITT

What do you make of the turning off the light bit at the end of It Takes Two. It seems really negative, and quite at odds with the usual positive atmosphere of Strictly.

It does seem like a bit of a "borrow" from Big Brother, where evicted housemates' portraits in the house and on the sister show's set change colour. But at least (unlike on BB were it also says EVICTED) it doesn't also say "ELIMINATED" across the photo.

It could have been marginally worse if they'd changed the other bottom two couple to yet another colour, pending either their elimination or survival the following week.

I found it quite funny 😂

Is this the sole purpose of that behemoth board? Seems a bit of unnecessary lumber

I wonder if they have a cut and paste function in case of the oft-mooted partner swap or pros covering for eventualities?

Seemed a bit tacky for me.

I had wondered the use for that big board... It was a bit like a huge electronic game.

Aliona's raised eyebrow look said it all ........................

tacky and pointless in my opinion

a bit like lots of segments on ITT, the dog knocking down cards, Brunos odd game that we had a while back

they could put their money and time to better uses, more training, more behind the scenes people being talked to, more interviews

I was surprised when Gregg and Aliona weren't first on ITT on Monday, and then appeared last. Having the eliminated couple on last on the show doesn't seem right, and if the only reason is so that they can turn their light off on the board is ridiculous.
Apart from the Big Brother thing already mentioned, I noticed that the last thing on Tumble every week was a shot of the eliminated contestant looking into their gym locker (with the camera inside looking at the contestant) and then closing It. This "Goodbye" shot seems to be a thing now. I don't like it

I don't like this either - pouring salt on the wound, especially for the first

The whole set seems to be designed round it as well, just for a completely unnecessary bit of business at the end of Friday's episode.

Zoe did say at first it was interactive and she could do all sorts of things with it, but I can't imagine what.

May I suggest ditching the Elimination Edifice and put more dancing related content into the show?

I really enjoy listening to Karen Hardy talking about choreography, Craig is also really good at explaining his marking of the contestants and I love the sneek preview of the songs and costumes to be used in Saturday's show....so instead of daft fillers like the above, lets hear about the contestants and their previous dance experiences, the key points of the dances and maybe...............real backstage gossip, now that would be interesting!!

I have to agree with it seeming unnecessary. It was better when the last thing we saw of the eliminated couple was their "best bits" videos.

Can you imagine how horrible it'll be for the final couple to be eliminated?

This programme is structured to grab the widest possible audience, a bit like "The One Show." Videos of the progress being made by couples during the week, taking second place to "fluff" and guests who say they are "Strictly fans," as if that made any difference to most dance enthusiasts.

That's why I've not watched it since Claudia gave it up.
