To stop Nickelback from playing in the UK.

Who let the hipster trendoids out of their box?

They are actually an alright band. I have never understood the hate for them.

All the Right Reasons is actually a guilty pleasure of mine. In fact, I might crank it out on my way home from work today crowing along to Animals

Frontman admits that without anti-Nickelback crusades such as the recent Kickstarter campaign, their career would have died out years ago
He has a point, you know.

Their best track!

I've seen them live, when Silver Side Up was released. I really enjoyed them.
I've got all the CDs from Silver Side Up, I really need to try out the first two.
Leader Of Men is a good, if rather simple, track.

I really do not understand the disdain for Nickelback.
Bush are just as 'grunge-lite', yet they don't get slagged off (I am a Bush fan too).

Actually Bush were hated although not to the Nickelback/Creed levels.

I've actually taken a Nickelback challenge - which consisted of listening to a few of their albums. I personally thought they were all pretty awful - but not the worst thing I've ever listened too. It's their derivative 'stadium rock music' combined with the worst kind of cock rock lyrics that makes for a somewhat unintentional funny combination - but there again is it any worse than Whitesnake were doing in the 80's? and like Whitesnake they are distined to appear on 'Driving Rock Anthems' for the next few decades.

They are less moronic than say Insane Clown Posse or Limp Bizkit for example. But a million miles away from being anywhere the brilliance of Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains & Soundgarden - bands for which they get compared too.

Some Post Grunge acts released some decent material - Stone Temple Pilots, Live and Our lady Peace put out some good albums in the early career (before all getting worse). Silverchair were the opposite releasing the most plodding bland music before reinventing themselves into an actual decent band. My Favourite of the 'post grunge' acts were Sponge who debut Rotting Pinata and followup Wax Ecstatic were great.

Late 80s? Whitesnake's early 80's Blues influenced stuff is really rather good.

Yeah well from the self titled album which spawned their biggest numbers - but was pretty woeful. Bland Stadium rock with the tendency towards cock rock lyrics.

I think they began to go downhill after the Moody/Marsden combo was gone.

Bush were selling out 20,000 seater arenas in the States, when nobody in their home country had any idea who they were.

Whitesnake always had lyrics like that. Slide It In?

"Now all of you women, better lift up your skirts and run, blah blah blah, because I fire like a Gatling gun".

Oh and the classic looking for "a night of satin sheet action".

It was before the internet so harder to stay in touch with what was happening outside your own doorstep. If you read some magazines like Kerrang! or Raw at that time you'd be aware of Bush - I was heavely into everything 'grunge' back then so I did get Sixteen Stone fairly early on, as well as Creed's debut (utter arse), Our Lady Peace 'Naveed' and Sponge's 'Rotting Pinata' etc, etc.....

So Nickelback are the new Phil Collins or James Blunt? Can't say I've even taken much notice of them. I wonder what cool music all the anti-Nickleback crowd listen to? Bet I wouldn't like it any better.

Its just daft juveile stuff. I think Nickelback are shite but if people want to go and see them that's their choice

However I must admit if stuff like this had been available to ban Bros when I was a teenage Smiths worshipper, I would have probably have jumped on the bandwagon

It's the trendy thing to do. If music media didn't have the Nickelback bashing obsession, it wouldn't happen.

Ah yeah of course it's 'hipsters' or people being 'cool' or 'trendy' is the only reason for disliking them. Secretly i'm sure everyone really likes their one dimensional plodding dirge they spew out.

If you like Nickelback go ahead, but don't try and make out it's some 'trendy pact' reason they'll always be near the top worst band poll.

Disliking them AND feeling the need to let everyone know about it.

That is the essence of the hipster.

In essence this is correct.

Nickelback weren't born to hatred, they had to 'earn' that by making music consistently hated but popular enough to grind against the average music listener. Coupled with the fact that rock music isn't commercially played thesedays, many rock fans find it insulting that Nickelback are on the radio being the band that represent their genre.

Nickelback are like Piers Morgan they are everywhere but you struggle to find many who don't loathe them.

That is rather paradoxical then, as you clearly hate hipsters and are happy to let everyone know about it..........which makes you a hipster appariently.

I hated Nickelback's music for years without needing anyone or the media telling me that I should. Their songs were generally horrible and he has an awful voice, they got played to death at the time as well. My hatred has reduced massively since they're barely in the charts any more. I even like a couple of their songs... there is music in the charts now that make Nickelback look like amateurs on the crap music front.

This crowd funding malarkey seems a good way to get mugs to part with their money

Apparently, over 50 million people like their one dimensional plodding dirge.

Me, personally, I love it.
