According to the Radio Times, the Apprentice will be returning next year with Series 11 in production already!

I am elated, I thought there was real danger of cancellation, but apparently not!

Thoughts?

Not sure what the ratings were like, but in terms of interest from those who did watch it, it seemed to have a bit of a resurgence in interest last year. Thanks in no small part to Luisa Zissman. So they've probably got a bit of faith it again now after doubling up series and adding a junior spin-off to capitalise on the success of series 4 and 5. Would explain the larger cast this year. Is it longer too or are they just having more in the final?

Apparently, its the same amount of episodes, so expect multiple double firings!

Good . It's nice to hear to hear it's got at least another 2 series. The slump had nothing to do with the format being tired, and everything to do with chucking on two series and a spin-off in a year and the attempts at more serious casting. No one watches this show to see competant bores :P.

I'm 'swinging my pants' at the news.

Then I'm having a pizza with a whole chicken on it as remember, I am your boss!

Thank goodness! I had a bit of a worry in my mind that Series 10 would be the last!

What will be interesting to see is whether they will retain the 20 candidate format.

I presume Series 11 will be broadcast in Autumn next year? I was thinking they might commission Series 11 and12 in one go.

According to this article, having 20 candidates was NOT popular with the board...

Based on the RT article that you linked below, the 20 candidate thing was just a twist added for the tenth anniversary series, so I can't see it being done again.

So you reckon it'll be back to 16 next year?

Yes, particularly with Sugar, Nick and Karren all commenting on how difficult it is to keep up with so many people.

Yes I noticed that, sounds very odd! Certainly like nothing that's been done before - there were massive breaks where Tasks 4 and 7 should have been, so I imagine it's one of them. It's sounds quite simple, so I'd say Task 4, and I think they are going abroad for Task 7(pure speculation).

Having 20 candidates is just way too many. 16 or 18 should be good enough

And I hope the candidates can be better..

I think they should have 18 next year. Going back to one double firing a series would be too much of a step back, yet 20 is simply too many IMHO.

I think that 16 candidates is a bit too many. I preferred having 14 like in the early years, or 12 like in Young Apprentice. When you have as many as 16, it takes a while to remember everyone's names and what they're doing, and it resorts in more pointless arguments in the early weeks as everyone tries to get their voices heard.

Would Lord Sugar do a celebrity apprentice like Donald Trump or is that not a British thing to raise money for charity and real stars giving their time for free

They've done a couple, but never a full series, just the odd episode for Comic Relief and things. This was before I was interested in watching it. If they made a celebrity edition, I probably wouldn't watch it; I'm not especially interested in lots of celebrity things.

You can;t be enjoying this '20 candidates' thing then can you?!

Not especially. I don't passionately hate it, it's not important enough in the grand scheme of things for me to worry about, but I do prefer series with fewer candidates. It's probably one of the reasons that I preferred Young Apprentice to the adult show.

Having read his autobiography, he HATED doing the Celebrity Apprentice and they were always just one task so I'd put the chances of him doing a full length celeb one at zero.
