I really like Jake even before Strictly but I also think he has peaked too early, I think he will be a finalist but wont win, I,m torn I would love him to win but I put an e/w bet on him before the show started and I think that only pays out if he is 2nd or 3rd

Darren - Paso Doble (Week 4)
Mark - Salsa/Argentine Tango (Week 5/11)
Alesha - Cha Cha (Week 8)
Tom - Showdance (Final)
Chris - Charleston (Week 11)
Kara - American Smooth (Week 8)
Harry - Quickstep (Week 9)
Louis - Salsa (Week 3)
Abbey - Waltz (Week 1)

I know people will have varying opinions on some of the above, but it does look to me that winners can really peak at any time.

ETA : The winner has always scored 28 or above in one of their first two dances, so it definitely helps to start strong - in fact all bar Harry broke the 30 barrier in their first two dances. (On that basis we're looking at one of Frankie, Jake, Caroline or Pixie.)”

Really interesting! The last bit I think verifies my theory.

Really sorry, did my Thumper comment get you into a argument with the poster! I didn't intend it to - I was just being lighthearted! I've only just seen the reply to my post, so thanks for coming in to defend it! Perhaps the poster has mixed up Jake Wood with Max Branning.

No worries, we sorted it.

I think Jake will go from strength to strength. He has a strong work ethic and is working with someone who knows how to produce great choreography when she has the chance. He doesn't appear to have any side to him which is unusual for an actor (he might be acting that he doesn't have any side lol). He doesn't say much so he doesn't drone on like Jason who also started well but plateaued too soon and was left behind as others continued to improve.

Hard not to see Jake being in the final.

I think Jake is amazingly talented and will continue to blow our minds. However, as it seems with everyone, he's bound to have a weak dance and that might knock his confidence a little, but I think he'll get to the final. He may not win because some people, for some reason, seem to really dislike him (maybe they think he's Max Branning, rather than an actor) and will vote for whoever else is in the final...

Personally, I think he's great and hope he wins!

Janette had to deliver a 9 or 10 Salsa. That is her dance and the producers knew it and the scheduling was deliberate to generate a 9 / 10 out of Janette / Jake.

Now why the producers wanted Jake to "peak" or let's say "shine" in round 2 is another matter. But that was the script.

If he does have the odd duff dance, I don't think it will do him any harm in terms of votes, possibly the opposite, people wanting to keep him in thinking it is just that.

I'll feel more comfortable about predicting his future after this weekend. The footage shown on ITT yesterday suggested that he might struggle a bit with ballroom but, of course, footage taken from early on in the week is often an unreliable indicator of the final outcome. We'll know for sure on Saturday.

He didn't struggle with the tango though, did he?

You're right but I always think of Tango as being in a category all of its own! In tonight's clip he looked a lot better so I'm feeling more optimistic now.

I tend to think of tango apart from ballroom too

I think he has more 'dance experience' than some of the more gullible think he has. I don't see how a 'non dancer' could pull that salsa off so well. If he comes clean about his dance experience, rather than the 'honest, guv I've never been near a dance floor' routine, he could go all the way.
I don't see him doing a 'sophie' and peaking too soon. He has WAY too much ability for that......wait and see. Don't get fooled again!
