Hi

I live in Coventry. I am currently with three and where I am and where I work I can not get 4G. I can in the city centre.

Anyway, going to leave three and have found a deal and phone I am interested in on Vodafone. Apparently there is good 4G signal where I am but I just wondered if Vodafone are any good?

I have lots of problems with 3, rarely get 3G in certain parts of my house so hoping it has to be better!!!

I'm sure there are some areas where Vodafone is good, but in general they have quite a poor network especially for data.

I recently joined vodafone and got unlimited data for 3 months. I did few tests by uploading 1.5gb file on onedrive which was quiet fast..Total data i used on meter it was showing up as 1.6 gb but if i check vodafone account online, its showing total used 980 mb.How long does it takes to update data ??any ideas because its more than 5 days..

Because they use the Queen's English.

I believe there is at least 1 more 4G site being added in Coventry in the next couple of months, I think there's a gap around Holbooks, which I think will get 4G soon, don't know if you're in that area. There will be other sites and enabling of 800Mhz on Three next year too, so it should improve over the next 12 months.

Vodafone and O2 both have good 4G in Coventry, but it's a trade-off between having a fixed data allowance, vs Three's 'all you can eat' plans with mobile hotspot, like home for using when you're abroad in selected countries etc.

If you find a good deal on Vodafone their 4G seems to be good in the places where it's deployed, so if you are ok with a fixed data allowance and don't mind not having faster data in more out of town areas I'd say go for it.

We get vodafone 4g in our town its a solid 30-40mb everytime i try a speedtest.

Ive never once been without a signal to make calls with vodafone unless there is a reported fault in the area i am in, which all networks suffer.

3G i find in every place i need it, but now the top 5 places i go across the south on a regular basis are covered by 4G anyhow so 3G no longer an issue for me.

And i get free spotify which makes the deal very competitive for me as i was previously spending £10 a month on that.

Thankyou. If we get heavy rain particulary when im at work I cant make calls or send texts with three. Rather annoying.

I dont understand speeds or ever done a speed test I just dont want to pay for 4g and not get it but seems I should be ok where I am so thats good enough for me

Vodafone is good where I am in London and the home counties the only downside is their still lack of 3G/4G outside the big cities this is being addressed thou and if you get 4G you can expect 25mb down easliy

I have them and excellent for making calls as someone said I've never lost a signal for 2G. They now have that HD Voice if you call someone else on vodafone and if you have a contract £26 per month and over you get access to a discounted second phone/sim/tablet.

Data is non existent outside main towns and city's and some parts of citys you drop to GPRS or EDGE signal.

Overall they are mostly reliable and your price won't go up in your contract and an added bonus when you go abroad on holiday you only pay £3 a day in Europe or £5 in some other places to use your mobile as if you were in the UK and if you don't use it one day you don't pay anything.

I'd say go for it

That was 2 years ago, Ofcom have asked providers not to do that any more or to be clear at the point of sale if they are going to.

O2 do, and they should tell you at sale, but Vodafone agreed not to. They did however hike out of bundle costs by 20, 30, even 40% in some cases this year instead.

Just to be pedantic, neither "Vodafone" or "Vodaphone" are the Queen's English

They are both made up words...

Not really no, most words are considered part of the English language (and that's why they would appear in the OED), like all the words I've just typed.

If someone makes up a word, like "dinglishicity" then it is a made up word that isn't the Queen's English, similar to the word "Vodafone" or "Vodaphone". People know Vodafone relates to the mobile network, but it's just a made up word they decided to call their company.

If I called you a moron you would know it was an insult, but if called you a norom you wouldn't know what I meant, mainly because it's something I just made up...

I am moving away from Vodafone.

Fed up with unable to get data. This is in multiple areas.

So unless you stay in one area where you do have a good signal, I would suggest avoiding.
